What's this, a deck which is not 40 cards? What is this madness!?

Well, Spider-man draws cards really well with this deck and has several ways to generate additional resources, thus getting those critical Upgrades and Support cards into play.

Let's break it down.

Peter's alter-ego generates 1 resources. This should help put out either Avengers Mansion, Web-Shooter, Ingenuity or Nerves of Steel or Aunt May.

Heck, even Ready for a Fight isn't a bad shout. Remember, Aunt May is probably one of the best cards in the game and if you can change form to Alter-Ego, gain advantage of your 6 card hand size and still defend against a Villain Attack by using Ready for a Fight (which will also net you an additional card!), this is a great start to your next turn.

In terms of card draw, Spider-man's inherent ability Spider Sense draws you a card every time you are attacked by the Villain. So aside from the Villain's normal attack against you, Preemptive Strike will also allow you to defend with exhausting AND draw a card. Taunt therefore also allows you draw a total of 4 cards (1 card from Spider Sense and 3 cards from Taunt).

Unflappable is an additional card and Defensive Energy also will allow you draw a card from playing any of "I Can Do This All Day", Desperate Defense, Never Back Down or Preemptive Strike. And of course, Avengers Mansion.

I've seen the argument that Mansion is too expensive but I saw 1 additional card for the rest of the game for basically 1 hand of inactivity is a very good trade, especially in a Spider-man deck.

So what are the tactics with this deck aside from defending and drawing cards?

Simple: you want to shut down the Villain as much as possible.

Webbed Up therefore is your other go-to card. Did you know that you can either play Webbed Up on a stunned Villain or stun a Webbed Up Villain and that will shut them down for 3 attacks (Stun 1 -> prevents attack 1, then Webbed Up -> prevents attack 2, which drops a Stun -> preventing attack 3).

This one card can do so much heavy lifting.

Deft Focus reduces the cost of Enhanced Spider-Sense and Swinging Web Kick. Swinging Web Kick for 2 resources is brilliant.

Armored Vest and Defensive Conditioning gives Spidey an inherent Defense 5! Preemptive Strike can prevent a nasty surprise / make you the defender.

Hard to Ignore helps manage the threat on the main scheme but if everything plays out correctly, then the main Villain won't be doing much scheming...

In terms of Allies, Black Cat is part of your hero kit but she's pretty good. She doesn't incur consequential damage to Attack, so she is a free 1 damage for the rest of the game.

Black Widow is your emergency "get out of jail" to cancel a devastating encounter card. Between her and Enhanced Spider-Sense, you should be able to mitigate the game ending events.

Iron Fist lays down stuns. Stun + Webbed Up = Goodness.

Jocasta will get you Backflip back into play. Backflip is literally one of the best cards in the entire game, so fishing it out of your discard is great.

Spider-Tracer isn't very good but if you've got a spare resource and a minion in play, its not the worst move.
