Thanks to CastleFrank47 for some help with this one!

No Contest

Not every hero is Ready for a Fight, but She-Hulk definitely is, right?

Still, I'm not so sure. While She-Hulk always seemed Ready for a Fight, round after round helped me realize that there's actually not much you gain from this combo

  • It costs a resource and the card itself to enable the combo and you get +2 hand size for setting up this combo, evening itself out
  • "I Object!" and "Do You Even Lift?" trigger, netting you -1 threat and 2 damage
  • Taking more villain hits means recovering more and not always getting to use Focused Rage

It was a split decision. Pinging 2 damage on the villain every turn or other turn just wasn't enough. There needed to be more of a benefit to really make this work.

Was there a way to use this damage to change fortune in my favor?

Fight Club (Deck Strategy)

She-Hulk and Titania have started a fight club, and you're invited! This deck uses Ready for a Fight to let Jennifer Walters transform into She-Hulk during the villain phase. By flipping up during the villain phase, "Do You Even Lift?" works with Change of Fortune to get us to an 8 starting hand size - no defense events or upgrades needed.

While we'll take some hits head on, the fight club here wants to get in on the action too. Once we set up, we'll have an 8 hand size after Change of Fortune triggers. Our Focused Rage can get us to 10 - perfect for drawing into another copy of Ready for a Fight, throwing some jabs at a minion and doing it all over again.

Roll with the Punches

She-Hulk might be able to bob and weave in a full stunlock build, but that's been done. You'll be going toe-to-toe with the villain, and your fight club is itching to join in too. You'll take hits from the villain sometimes, using your Endurance for a little extra buffer.

Change of Fortune might be cheap, but to trigger it you'll need to have a minion on the ropes before you come out swinging.

Down but not Out

There's no shame in needing to rest between rounds. We encourage it, as long as you're still Ready for a Fight when it's over.

Once you have both copies of Focused Rage out and Change of Fortune, you can have 10 cards in hand shortly after your turn begins. There's a strong chance you draw into another copy of Ready for a Fight, as well as "Come Get Me, Bub!" if you need another target.

Can't afford to take a villain hit?

While you're down in alter-ego, use Superhuman Law Division to thwart. If you've got extra cards that you'll get rid of anyways, even some Legal Practice isn't always a bad idea.

In Your Corner

In our rest periods, our trainers help smooth out the edges and aren't afraid to throw a jab if need be.

Down for the Count

We've got a couple of reserve fighters for high player counts or when a scenario has enough minions that "Come Get Me, Bub!" doesn't make sense. Rogue loves both of them.

  • Blade is cheap and can block if need be or help to deal with the board
  • Grant Ward doesn't know how to cover up, but he'll thwart or attack for cheap

With every other option here, I had to throw in the towel in favor of better options.

Knockout!!!

This was a lot more difficult to make work than I thought it would be. With Change of Fortune, the deck really came together.

Leaning into damage late game is probably the biggest weakness here. I know I'm guilty of keeping the combo going over using the cards to damage the villain. I would still say the stunlock version is probably a stronger deck, but this is a lot of fun and certainly more well rounded in multiplayer!

Crazy how they released the best hero in the game in the core set!

Awesome interaction with Ready for a Fight, Do You Even Lift and Change of Fortune. Also good looking out on the Rainbow Rowell She-Hulk

Change of Fortune is a great add! I can't wait to try this deck.

How important is Hellcat here? Is it a pretty high priority to make sure she doesn't hit the discard pile, so either sitting on her and not using her for a turn or being willing to hold her in your hand for a turn?

@Septuseth Not a main focus! More of a resource dump when you have her in hand and need some burst threat removal

I am disappointed to say I didn't get to play alongside this at the Con, but it's one I have bookmarked and will be playing soon!

I was always a fan of She Hulk, but haven't played her in a long time. She sounds fantastic with RFAF, so this is going in the queue to play soon! What's wrong with using Dr. Sinclair here though? I figured it would be a really easy way to burst heal

I'm working on a She-Hulk "ready for a fight" deck. Can you explain more why you are against Dr. Sinclair?

May 23, 2025 corbintm · 3634

@HeroicSkeleton and @marktry - didn't see these!

Dr. Sinclair is not a bad card! In fact, the healing is very strong. The issue is the status removal in this combo.

When you trigger Ready for a Fight, you're forced to flip up to hero form. If an encounter card or boost effect gives you a stunned status card, you have to flip down to use Dr. Sinclair's status removal. The status removal is just not incredibly helpful at this point, and feels primed for non Ready for a Fight decks (or multiplayer).

At the start of the player phase, if you're stuck with a stunned status card, your only option to remove it is to flip down if you want to use Dr. Sinclair's status removal. You could exhaust to remove it and then use Limitless Stamina to ready up, but The Night Nurse is going to allow you to do that without losing potential attack power. I ended up with Unshakable because it's another target for Deft Focus and allows you to mitigate status cards. This also allowed me to focus more on without worrying about too much!

You could definitely sub in, though I think the status removal mostly whiffs when you need it.

Hope this helps explain!

@corbintm So I have a She-Hulk deck that I finished that uses Ready for a Fight (RFAF) as main conceit. I'm flipping down to AE every turn and flipping up when the villain Schemes with RFAF. Since She-Hulk wants to have damage to use her Gamma Slam. you don't always have to Sincalr to heal; I've used Symbiote Suit as end-game; but you can use Dr. Sinclair plus Down Time as a health battery. For the mental I was using either Quincarrier or Enhanced Awareness. Anyway, you can read the write up here.

@corbintm Oh, I see! I consider Sinclair's main use to be the healing, and the status cleanse is just a nice bonus if you ever use it. But if healing wasn't a concern, then no need.

Right, your healing is from "Come Get Me, Bub!". I just wish Superhuman Strength with 2 of them, was such a dead card in these decks. (for me since you are losing it when you attack and of course you are attacking).
