Ready for a Fight: Part VIII: Ready for a Swinging Web Kick!
Part of my Ready for a Fight series of heroes, which is the best way to reframe old heroes. I've been able to get heroes on the board to play, some I have not touched in literally years.
Using the Ready for a Fight strategy, you can override Spider-Man's thwarting weakness, by minimizing the amount of times you let the Villian scheme, plus ending more turns in Alter-Ego to trigger Aunt May health. This leans heavily into setting up Change of Fortune strategy to set up villain turns to card draw over and over again to set up next turn and go back into Alter-Ego.
You can easily have 15 cards on the board. Once you get your defense cards out, you can set up additional card draw with Change of Fortune. You have some Thwart-heavy allies to help your weaknesses if minions aren't there for you, use your Spider-Tracer. As a bonus for Spidey's weak thwart, you can go whole games as confused and still manage scheming.
You are going to try to get Ready for a Fight on your first hand or mulligan, but you could probably deal with being in hero form early on until you get your Ready for a Fight card. Once you have your board set up, you will pretty much be near full health, or be able to replenish with Aunt May to trigger all your other damage cards.
At 41 cards it's a very tight deck. You kind of need two Indomitable, and Professor X is necessary if Threat gets out of control.
Key Cards
Change of Fortune really is pretty much central to this deck, so try to play. Since Spider-Man can use these defense cards and his own defense to stop damage, the Dauntless and Electrostatic Armor or Riposte will trigger lots of great card draws plus your Unflappable and your hero power, you will get more defense cards until you finally have enough cards for a three-turn Swinging Web Kick to finish the villain.
Here are the other cards:
Supports
Aunt May: Will be more useful since you will be going into Alter-Ego more often. Because of Aunt May, having Dr. Sinclair was redundant and not included in this version of RFAF.
Quincarrier is most useful for making physical resources for Ready for a Fight or other uses. You will have other wild resources with Web-Shooter so you can use Quincarrier elsewhere later.
Upgrades
-
Armored Vest, ensuring you don't take any damage to trigger Electrostatic Armor, Unflappable and Dauntless.
-
Change of Fortune Key component of this protection deck, setting up to get the largest card draw. As explained above.
-
Dauntless, once you are fully set up you should be able to (with Endurance to be at full health when you hero up to Giant form.
-
Deft Focus Combos with Swinging Web Kick.
-
Electrostatic Armor retaliate when you defend.
-
Indomitable another way to make sure you are ready especially when you have multiple villains
-
Ingenuity a huge part of Spidey's deck for the extra resources.
-
Practiced Plan keep your Ready for a Fight back in your hand. Once you go through the deck once, you should be able to have Ready for a Fight with Practiced Plan the entire time.
-
Ready for a Fight obviously. If you have 2 in your hand, try to keep the 2nd one in your hand and find another physical resource. The whole deck works best with playing Ready for a Fight as many turns in a row.
-
Spider-Tracer so useful to get rid of thwart, but there aren't always minions when you need them. Combos so nicely when you trigger it on Villain's turn to trigger Change of Fortune.
-
Unflappable since Ironheart's defense is strong, this is a great card to have for card draw, especially in combo with Change of Fortune
-
Web-Shooter so useful for resources and playing Ready for a Fight.
-
Webbed Up since it stops you trigger you from your bonuses on defense, only use it as a last resort. Use them as resources.
Allies
Black Cat Sometimes it make sense to use her to thwart if scheming is getting too high. Great to set up your villain turn for Change of Fortune.
Moon Girl with Ingenuity, Peter Parker alter-ego mental resource and Quincarrier or a Web-Shooter you'll likely trigger 3 card draw. Use her to clear threat.
Professor X. You will probably need him to make sure you can have at least one turn in Alter-Ego where you don't flip up if the Ready for a Fight don't work in your favor. You will thank me.
Spider-Byte a free or 1 resrouce card? Thank you. Just use to get rid of threat.
Events
Backflip amazing this triggers Dauntless and Electrostatic Armor and Unflappable. So good.
Desperate Defense same.
Riposte trigger to take out low HP minions or combo with higher minions with Backflip or Desperate Defense to get your Change of Fortune bonus.
Enhanced Spider-Sense with Deft Focus free resource.
Swinging Web Kick a way to end the game. Also great when you are stunned and you are desperate.
Good luck and have fun!!!

Other decks in this series
(Some will be updated soon to version 2.0):
Ready for a Fight: Part I: Ready for A One-Two Punch! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50416/ready-for-a-one-two-punch-2.0 Allowing you to be in Alter-Ego and get 10 cards to start your hero turn.
Ready for a Fight: Part II: Ready for a Dance of Death! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50440/rfaf-ready-for-a-preparation-1.0 You will have total control on the board and all your cards played.
Ready for a Fight: Part III: Ready for a Repulsor Blast! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50485/rfaf-ready-for-a-repulsor-blast-1.0 A nice way to still get your Alter-Ego abilities even late game.
Ready for a Fight: Part IV: Ready for a Hulk Smash! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50535/rfaf-ready-for-a-hulk-smash-1.0 Play hulk with RFAF and you actually keep your cards, have a larger hand size and not worry about scheming, because your Hulk and your thwarting sucks.
Ready for a Fight: Part V: Ready for a Giant Stomp! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50658/rfaf-ready-for-a-giant-stomp-1.0 If you like the Wasp version, you will love Giant-Man, especially because the Ready for a Fight strategy gives you way more cards in alter-ego than his 4 limited hand size.
Ready for a Fight: Part VI: Ready for a Wasp Sting! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50763/rfaf-part-vi-ready-for-a-wasp-sting-1.0 A very different feel than the other RFAF decks as you have less physical resources, but uses RFAF strategy as often as you can. A way to get Wasp on the table.
Ready for a Fight: Part VII: Ready for a Photon Beam! https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/50764/rfaf-part-vii-ready-for-a-photon-beam-1.0 So far my favorite of the RFAF series because you get Ironheart set up so much faster to Version 2 and 3.
Coming Soon - Ready for a Fight: Part IX: Ready for a Phantom Flip!

Jun 12, 2025Nice deck! I love the idea of dauntless + endurance here. RFAF is so good at keeping Peter’s health high because of easy access to Aunt May. A consistent retaliate 2 goes crazy for change of fortune |

This looks like a fun deck and another great addition to your series. Just a quick question though. How will deft focus (DF) combo with enhanced spider sense (ESS)? From what I can see, if I exhaust DF as a hero action, its effect will only last until the end of my turn. Wouldn't this timing window end way before the encounter cards are flipped during the villain's turn, which is the interrupt trigger of ESS? I am fairly new to the game though so if I am missing something, please let me know. Thanks!
