So I've been trying to fine tune this bugger of a deck, and I don't mind having 43 cards as the base, which I'll explain why hopefully later. This deck is also evolving and by no means better than someone else's creation. We all have our own styles that this is just another submission to the CDB "Suggestion Box" for Leadership aspect decks.
My biggest positive review is when using it multiplayer with a solid Ghost-Spider Protection Deck. Granted I take out the Ghost-Spider ally and replace it with Hope Summers as she takes on the Web-Warrior trait that plays well with both Web of Life and Destiny and Warrior of the Great Web, and I'm not too concerned with cost because Ham racks up toon counters like candy.
The biggest downfall, because he relies on allies heavily, is the wondrous amount of Leadership cards that could synergize with this deck. I wish I could add them all and make a monster deck, but it would make the tempo harder to sync up. But some good considerations would be: Ready for Action Save the Day Morale Boost Moxie Teamwork Med Lab Reinforced Suit Any of these could be interchanged with some others here and would be great for ally management and lifespan. Any reason to keep Spider-Man in the game is worth investing in some of these. If you decide to play with Ham and Deadpool, invest in utilizing Spider-Man to abuse his Interrupt. And once the Magneto hero is released, there are some cards that may be beneficial as well.
I used to have The Triskelion listed, but I burn through allies enough not to need more than three out at a time. And if I have both the Web upgrade and support in play, I have no qualms throwing down my Last Stand on some of my allies when their at their last HP to get a boost in basic attack as well as the card draw and stat boost when they leave play. Using it on Spider-Man will grant that last Ready for a Web-Warrior when he's discarded.
I also used to have Symbiote Suit on this list as well, but realized the extra tank aspect wasn't needed and I enjoyed flipping back and forth more often than what this card would let me.
So the key to how I work Ham is taking little increments of damage per turn. I can usually get an ally out every other turn based on the luck of the draw, and utilize chump blocking religiously. If you have the two Web based cards above in play, it really helps, otherwise be patient. I use Sneak Attack and Across the Spider-Verse to bring in allies for a lower cost (or resource requirement) when in a pinch, and then if I have toon counters to spare, bust out Make the Call to recycle allies from the discard pile. If I'm not chump blocking, I'm able to draw Cartoon Physics enough to offset that and only take 1 damage from the villain. If you can keep a 1-Atk minion in play as well (without any Responses/Interrupts), let them ride the board and keep that toon counter mojo flowing. Ham has a phenomenal Rec and can be boosted using Down Time if you REALLY need to. Then we have Clarity of Purpose for that extra oomph each turn. And like the Rec stat, if you need to flip to Alter-Ego, make sure that The Daily Beagle is also in play for up to four easy toon counters before flipping back to Hero: use all Hero Actions cards, exhaust for Basic Action(s), flip to A-E and exhaust the Beagle; next turn using Rec and another Beagle, you flip on the third turn to Hero but not before exhausting another Beagle. Or just drop a Swinging Web Pig, then flip to AE for the Rec.
Now why I keep just those extra three cards is because when I utilize my Cartoon Physics, I place that down and then throw out my Petulant Pig. 9 times out of 10 it will pull an ally that I save for and keeps myself protected enough to only take the small hits.
When playing Ham, I tend to frustrate the other players because he's so good at WANTING to take damage when most players are trying to avoid it. It's not as chaotic as playing a 'Pool aspect deck or Deadpool with other tuned aspects, but the chaos works so well it can play solo or even be used when another player wants to try new heroes. I'm working on teaching my daughter to play and Ham is a good crutch/clutch when she's trying her favorite Heroes and learning the flow of resource management.
Hope you get to enjoy Ham as much as I do. He's also fun in other aspects, so check out those listings.
