I couldn't pass up the opportunity for a new THOR deck using the cards from the Valkyrie set! Here's the deal.

BIFROST!

What an incredible addition! With The Bifrost in play, you can search for any of the 6 allies included in this deck. Searching for Angela is awesome (playing her from your deck for zero AND getting 2 cards out of it), as is summoning Lady Sif, Valkyrie to get rid of a minion, or Throg when engaged with a minion for 2 blocks! Just awesome!

Smash the Problem!

Been waiting for a LONG TIME for such a card! With Combat Training and Mjolnir, you can now thwart for 4!

Once it is done, finish a minion with Hammer Throw / Dive Bomb and ready from Battle Fury to keep fighting (or revert to AE and recover).

For Asgard!!

Very useful in this setup, you can use it to summon allies back from the discard to your hand!

AS ALWAYS...

Moment of Triumph after destroying a minion with Hammer Throw to heal.

Team-Building Exercise has 14 targets here. Usually my top choice to put Mjolnir back into play after a Hammer Throw. Also works on Dive Bomb if you've got Mjolnir into play (aerial).

Deft Focus to help pay for Hammer Throw or Lightning Strike.

Building an economy is key as THOR. God of Thunder is your best choice here (for Lightning Strike), but they all have their uses. So, start the game by clearing the side schemes, putting every upgrade and support possible in play. Then summon minions, crush them and the villain with Hammer Throws.

One cool combo: attack the villain, play Defender of the Nine Realms, play Hammer Throw, ready from Battle Fury, attack again, use Bifrost, play Lady Sif, attack again. This is possible by the end of the game with some luck and lots of assets in play.

Glad to see some love for Bifrost. It really brings Thor to a whole new level.

@Onions Incredible card indeed! The combo with Angela is too awesome! I was just sad that Beta Ray Bill is a blue card...

Is there a reason you didn't include Hall of Heroes and Mean Swing (and Get Over Here for multiplayer)? I feel like those cards are essential for Thor.

@Onions Hi! I played this deck as a true solo experience, where Get Over Here! isn't as useful (you can't engage a minion twice, so it only does its 1 dmg and you don't get the draw). Hall of Heroes is a card that I played a lot as Thor and at some point was an auto-include; I realized that I don't often get a lot of draw from it as I tend to stay in hero form as much as possible, especially late game and so I got the feeling that it wasn't that useful. As for mean swing, nothing wrong with it. It could take the place of Dive Bomb, which I put in because late game, you get to play either Dive Bomb or Hammer Throw each turn, which is awesome. Plus, a big attack like that really helps with Moment of Triumph and since it's an event, you can basic attack to un-stun then dive bomb, not possible with an attack modifier.

I think a bit of it is also personnal preference based on past successful decks, for sure they're great cards! So I might just try them back in.

I'm a bit curious about Godllike Stamina. I'm using it in my Valkyrie deck and I think it's a great card, specially for decks which doesn't defend too much, but I'm not seeing so much love for this card here in marvelcdb.

Probably, with Aggression Thor , its role is covered by Moment of Triumph and you can't just spend more slots for healing cards?

@wehehe Same here, I'm looking forward to play Godllike Stamina, it seems too much of a good card to pass up. However, as you mentionned, Moment of Triumph plays this role so well, and aggro Thor kinda needs extra thwart (Smash the Problem) and I've also grown fond of having Dive Bomb for turns when you don't have Hammer Throw. I'm having a hard time figuring out where it would fit in here,

I think Godllike Stamina could find its place in a protection deck (kinda how The Night Nurse works). Toss in Ever Vigilant too and you've got the start of something for Thor protection...

I may yet try it out!

Smash the Problem seems so great for Thor aggression, i almost feel like why play him in any other aspect, especially with the The Bifrost / Angela combo. so good. can't wait to finally get Valkyrie and try this out.

@dr00 Hi again!

Agreed! I already had a hard time seeing Thor anything but an aggro hero, and those cards simply add to it even more.

The Bifrost is a very cool card, tailor-made for Thor, I think you'll love it! I hope you get it soon, fun pack!

@neothechosen yeah, my country is still waiting for MTS, but hopefully things can start arriving quickly next year!

Dec 14, 2021 neothechosen · 10051

@dr00 I feel your pain! Here, it's been a drought for months, Nebula and MTS got severely delayed, then we got War Machine, MTS, The Hood and Valkyrie in 3 - 4 weeks. Haven't properly tried it all yet.

I hope you can get it all soon! (maybe a Christmas miracle?)

last year, i got Ant-Man right before christmas, so maybe there could be another christmas miracle this year too!

The only advantage I see of Moment of Triumph over Godlike Stamina is the greater potential heal, healing 7 if you Hammer Throw into a 1 health enemy. But isn’t the status protection from Godlike Stamina a bit better? Thor is pretty tanky, so a small heal + status protection is likely better than a burst heal. Confuse is rough, as he only has so many ways to thwart, you’d probably be forced to exhaust so you can still Smash the Problem or DotNR. Being usable in alter-ego is another plus. But idk, just my two cents. Looking forward to retrying Thor!

@journeyman2

Hi! In fact I've been relying on Moment of Triumph for quite some time with aggro Thor, I don't know how to live without it! As you said it's the 5 - 6 heal that's just soooo good. Doesn't mean that Godllike Stamina isn't good, just that I don't know where to cut!

I just posted a protection deck that uses Godllike Stamina and a few cool protection cards, it has been a good card indeed. Might be worth playtesting it here!
