I decided that I was going to try to play a solo game each day for the month of January using only Basic and Character cards. This is my Janky January's Basic build for Captain Marvel.

Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel has an interesting card draw effect. On Carol Danvers side, we have a pretty straight forward give a player a card. Then on the Captain Marvel side we have the spend resource and Heal 1 / Draw 1. Factor in Captain Marvel's Energy Channel that also needs , So I wanted to pair up those abilities with Enhanced Reflexes. Photonic Blast also benefits from using resources. I included 3 copies of Endurance for the health adds, plus they are also resource based cards. Add in Avengers Mansion and you should be able to draw at least 2 extra cards every turn.

Tips for Playing: 1) Captain Marvel is a single target damage character. You can quickly become overwhelmed with villains that have lots of minions, like Klaw or Ultron. And the deck is VERY light on Allies. Almost to the point that I would drop a Tenacity for Lockjaw because he is the only other current Basic Ally. 2) You should Twart with Captain Marvel at least every other turn to keep the threat on the Scheme down. 3) Photonic Blast and Energy Channel are going to be your two major attacks. Remember you can only build up one Energy Channel at a time. 4) I would mulligan the entire hand if you do not draw out one Enhanced Reflexes or Avengers Mansion. Helicarrier is nice but Emergency is FAR MORE useful. 5) Your Nemesis (Yon-Rogg and Yon-Rogg's Treason) are particularly devastating to this deck. It is very difficult to recover from either entering play. 6) Lastly, you will need to walk focus your attacks on the Villain's health, luckily Captain Marvel can easily put up 15 pts in one turn with just two cards. Due to the card draw, I would tell you that you do not need a 10 pt Energy Channel, but Overkill never hurts.

These are the cards that will be replaced in future decks when we have more Basic cards, Enhanced Awareness really does not fit in this deck. I was thinking that 2 for 3 was a good exchange, it just is not as desirable as Enhanced Reflexes and I find myself spending this card more than playing it. Next up on the chopping block is Down Time, I was expecting to be able to use this to increase my Recovery and the seemed like I could use it with Tenacity to ready Captain Marvel. But in all my plays, once again I have never done either. Reduction to the number of Tenacity cards. I included them because they were resource cards, but more useful cards are sure to be in the card pool soon.
