Hall of Patriots - War Machine

**

War Machine wants to flip every turn. I've paired him with a Justice Iron Man build that confuse locks the villain: Tony Stark - Weapons Dealer

Glorious Patriotic Purpose

**

The first thing I noticed with War Machine is that Scorched Earth can instantly fill Hall of Heroes with Glory Counters. We want to do that as often as possible and flip to take advantage of the card draw. Angela and Looking for Trouble find minions. Looking for Trouble, Chase Them Down, and Targeted Strike prove to be a strong thwarting core, helping Iron Man tee up the side schemes he'll be drawing with One Way or Another and benefitting from the Followed he'll be laying down.

War Machine tends to be pretty squishy, so we have Crew Quarters, Endurance, and Ready to Rumble to keep him healthy; the latter providing a free REC exhaust before flipping up. We are running a suite of cheap allies to act as blockers, but they all are nice ping damage in their own rights. We are running a lot of for Hulk, Marvel Boy, Blade, and Surprise Attack.

Mean Swing is interesting tech. With only 8 targets in the deck, Gauntlet Gun isn't always useful, so having Mean Swing around gives us another nice source of damage. Shoulder Cannon is another nice target for it, since it can ready itself. 1-2 copies of "Fusillade" could also be considered over some combination of Surprise Attack and Looking for Trouble, depending on the scenario.

We really want to be flipping every turn to benefit from Hall of Heroes, Munitions Bunker, Upgraded Chassis, and our alter-ego ability. You'll want to be putting War Machine events back in the deck regularly, depending on the situation. Free 4 damage or 3 thwart (using Gauntlet Gun on Repulsor Beam or Targeted Strike) is incredibly useful. Having more opportunities to fill up Hall of Heroes with Scorched Earth is a boon. The cost curve is so low and you'll be refilling ammo counters so often, that even using Gauntlet Gun for anything except Mean Swing isn't entirely necessary.

Missile Launcher and Shoulder Cannon are the surprise mvps here. Having them out means that even if you don't draw into your events on your hero turn (flipping every turn remember?), that you can dish out a free 5-6 damage. They guarantee that you won't waste any damage and take care of stun. Missile Launcher in combination with Scorched Earth is incredibly handy against retaliate, one of War Machines weaknesses.

Other Considerations

**

No Quincarrier since Iron Man needs it to guarantee aerial.

Spider-Girl or Mockingbird are other useful allies.

Jarnbjorn can help clean up turns. Down Time provides an additional layer of protection in dire circumstances.

Two Against the World wasn't useful solely because both heroes have to be in hero form. The ready doesn't get you much and the only real targets are Upgraded Chassis and to a lesser extent Gauntlet Gun.
