Star-Lord - Big Hero Moment

Star-Lord incurs lots of bad things. Protection saves you from bad things. Profit!

This deck aims to ensure that Star-Lord can survive the consequences of his actions, and bounce back without giving up tempo. Med Team is efficient over time, but you don't have time when you're revealing your third encounter card and suffering successive villain attacks in the same villain phase. Use Energy Barrier, Jet Boots, and Booster Boots to reduce the damage you take; if you can control the damage from an attack such that you only take 1, and can then play Shake it Off in response, you're gold.

Momentum Shift lets you heal while helping to clear minions or push the villain. Preservation only heals 1, but healing for small amounts adds up, and you can spend it on an Element Gun shot and still get the healing. The Gardener is a fun inclusion that can provide a bit of surprise healing, and a table that includes Star-Lord is far more likely to get it as an encounter card than usual.

It's important to create a state where you're confident that you can survive the villain phase, and exactly what that looks like is going to change all the time. Sometimes you'll have allies already on the table; sometimes you'll have a Forcefield Generator; sometimes you're relying on Jet Boots; sometimes you have nothing. If you have nothing, and aren't sure you can survive two villain attacks, clear threat and flip down, and build your defensive layers next turn. The more you have, the harder you can push your luck!
