This is a pretty basic Iron Man deck, built with just the first few waves worth of card releases. It still holds up today! This deck's #1 strength is its extremely consistent setup, even if it's not doing anything new or flashy.

This is best played 2-handed or multiplayer, with at least one teammate who can THW better than you. True-solo is still doable on scenarios that aren't too THW-heavy. Your ATK and DEF stats are going to be a pitiful 1 the entire game, so you pretty much want to be using your basic thwart every turn.

How to play this deck:

  • Mulligan for Ingenuity, 1x Meditation, and tech upgrades.
  • My priority order for tech upgrades is Arc Reactor, then Helmet, then everything else, depending on what the situation needs most. Your second copy of Rocket Boots is mostly redundant; feel free to spend it as a resource.
  • Play as many tech upgrades as you can T1, stay down in alter-ego for at least one more 6-card hand.
  • Play as many tech upgrades as you can T2, and flip up once you've got a hero hand size of at least 5 or 6, and ideally a Forcefield Generator or Energy Barrier to protect your butt.
  • Midgame, try to leave Plasma Pistols and your shields with at least 1 counter on them, so they can be Repurpose'd into readies for Iron Man. You will likely be choosing THW every time, unless you've got a teammate in Justice.
  • By this point, every turn you should be using Ingenuity to gain aerial from Rocket Boots, and then using Mark V Helmet and Powered Gauntlets to full effect.
  • Endgame, Repulsor Blast is your best friend. Repurpose for ATK damage, etc.

Yes, the allies are all too expensive, but we rarely need to chump block with all the shields in this deck, and Martyr and Nova are both meant to stick around forever. I'm really not a fan of the signature War Machine ally, so he's usually just a resource card unless I'm fighting Ultron or a wall of Tough minions.

How would you guys upgrade this deck with more recent cards?
