Goal to build a deck that features the current spotlit card: Coordinated Attack

Of the new cycle Tactic Upgrade cards that came in the Mutant Cycle, Coordinated Attack is probably my favorite. Some would put Pinned Down at the top because it can neutralize a Minion but it has limits. My strategy is almost always, deal with the Minion and Coordinated Attack does it the best.

Problem with trying to build a deck around it in Leadership, is getting a minion so you're not drawing 3 dead cards consistently. Few options available assist in leadership: Thor, Valkyrie, Star-Lord, Spider-Woman (w/ aggression), Adam Warlock, Gamora, probably missing something else but you get the point. Of all of these Thor and Valkyrie felt like the answer. Valkyrie was my first choice but she really wants to be the last attack to take advantage of Death-Glow. Thor on the other hand doesn't care about how the Minion dies, which means Allies can do the work.

GAME PLAN:

Minions

Obviously Defender of the Nine Realms is there to get minions out. However there are a few more subtle additions to help with the cause, see allies comments.

Allies

Coordinated Attack needs allies to be good, so I picked:

  • Ant-Man is 2 ATK for 1 Consequential, he's as cheap as you need him to be, synergizes well with Team Training, and has 2 THW to cover for Thor.
  • Beta Ray Bill is 3 ATK for 1 Consequential, the kicker of him getting to remove 2 threat on the final blow, and he's Asgard for the synergies with Thor kit.
  • Gentle is 3 ATK for 1 Consequential against Minions and cheap for 3 ATK.
  • Hawkeye pings minions for 2 damage when they enter play and having a 1 ATK isn't the worst to make the math on killing a Minion potentially more efficient.
  • Heimdall can help us get out Minions by stacking the deck, Coordinated Attack makes him more efficient to attack, he's Asgard for the synergies with Thor kit, and has 2 THW to cover for Thor.
  • Maria Hill is just a great ally with her draw, having a 1 ATK isn't the worst to make the math on killing a Minion potentially more efficient, and has 2 THW to cover for Thor.
  • Rocket Raccoon is 4 ATK for 1 Consequential with overkill against a Minion, and has 2 THW to cover for Thor. Downside on Rocket Raccoon is that you have to play him with Make the Call. Probably the most flexible spot in the deck.
  • Star-Lord is 2 ATK for 1 Consequential, has 2 THW to cover for Thor, is cheap, and helps to get to more minions. I think a lot of people sleep on this card. You have full control over when to play him and he is the most efficient ally you can play. I could see this spot being a flex but I wouldn't.
  • Team Training/The Triskelion - Extra help to keep them allies around.
  • Leadership Skill is one of the most efficient cards in the game. 1 cost (2 effective) for 3 ATK or THW is an auto-include in any deck if it was an event. In a deck where you are easily keeping allies in play, this could be spent in a turn negating it's Max 1 per player downside. If there was a card to add, it might be number 3 of Leadership Skill.
  • Make the Call adds 3 copies of the best ally for the situation. IMO this is the most powerful card in the game.

Resources

There are some beefy ally costs in the deck and they aren't all the same aspect to justify Power of cards. Thor having God of Thunder x2 and being an Avenger for Quincarrier gives him plenty of in play resources to afford some of these big costs. With the allies staying in play longer thanks to Coordinated Attack, Band Together is a clear include. Add in a Helicarrier and Asgard to make up for his weak hand size and you got a lot of resource power to afford allies and his kit.

ALTERNATE CONSIDERATIONS:

Symbiote Suit + Venom - I prefer a bit more control on my encounter cards and these can be a bit risky. These are also dead early, as you don't want to play them before set up. That being said, they could fit into the deck and help a lot.
