Prologue

When Thor was released, there seemed to be a sizable portion of the community who thought he wasn't very good. I never found that to be the case, but he's definitely stronger with all the cards that have been released since. This deck produces consistent damage output, turn after turn.

General Strategy

The idea is to build out Thor's kit and lay out allies and attack as you go. Utilize Mjolnir as a resource in the first few turns and get it back with Odinson's ability. The most important upgrade/support is Asgard by far, as it produces both card selection and resources. Mulligan for it or For Asgard! for...Asgard. Depending on the scenario, you can expect to draw 2 from Thor's ability on average every other turn. Sometimes, you'll draw 4 because you'll get an activation on your turn from Angela, Get Over Here!, or Defender of the Nine Realms, and an activation while resolving encounter cards on the villain's turn.

Card Choices

Down Time - Thor has a pretty high REC and a lot of hit points, especially with Thor's Helmet in play. Raising that REC even higher allows you to stay in the fight longer.

Recuperation - Speaking of taking advantage of high REC, this card is incredibly good for heroes such as Thor. This enables you to exhaust to ATK, flip to alter, then heal for your full (hopefully boosted) REC. Next turn, you should be able to flip right back into the fight without ever exhausting to heal.

Team-Building Exercise - Between Asgard and Avengers, this deck has 10 valid targets. Angela would be number 11, but she's free.

Lie in Wait - You want to get a lot of minions to engage you. This is a cheap way of hurting them when they do, then you or your allies can finish them off.

Possible Substitutions

Tigra - She can be similar to Bug, but costs 1 more. However, she is an Avenger so Team-Building Exercise helps.

Piercing Strike - Tough can be annoying.

Athletic Conditioning - Being stunned can also be annoying. Hopefully someone at the table is Doctor Strange or has The Night Nurse.

Cards I’m Not Playing

Into the Fray - I tested it a bunch and found it to not be worth the 3 cost in this deck. It would normally only remove a couple threat, unless you spent an attack prior to using it.

Moment of Triumph - Doesn’t heal enough damage in this deck. The idea is to get multiple strikes of 3-4 damage each on every turn and be as efficient as possible.

This is a fun deck. I look forward to trying it out.

I’d like to find a good replacement for Helicarrier because of its cost, perhaps a second copy of Team-Building Exercise or a Enhanced Reflexes. Maybe I’ll wait for a new resource producer.
