This is my rendition of a Thor Aggression deck. Certainly to me he feels like one of the most improved heroes since his initial release, partially down to new cards releasing and also a change in my playstyle, being less scared of encounter cards for example.
The goal of the deck is essentially flip to hero and stay there for the rest of the game (assuming Odin doesn't get angry with you). While there you ramp everything you can into play, so you can get to a point where you are just firing off multiple of Into the Fray and Hammer Throw a turn. Every card in the deck is pretty much working towards one of those goals, staying alive, drawing/playing ramp and killing bad guys.
Allies: Angela is a huge addition to this deck as her ability allows Thor to get a minion in the player phase, which otherwise was limited to Defender of the Nine Realms or Get Over Here!. It's even better than that, because she chooses which minion rather than just the top most in the deck. Bug is another quite noticeable improvement to Thor. Bug is great at popping enemies tough so Thor can line up a hammer throw/into the fray, I normally try to keep bug around as a permanent ally, but if push comes to shove, he can boldly jump in the way of danger for you. Wasp, Spider-Girl and Valkyrie all fit into the minion dealing process, either by killing it or locking it down with status cards. They too are very willing to let you hide behind them.
Events: "Bring It!" just makes this deck so much fun to play. Especially with this deck being permanent hero, and it's ability to draw minions in the player phase it's not hard to get engaged by minions. Sometimes it's even worth holding onto a minion as a sort of pet to turn it into card draw, it's not like you're short of health. On the topic of health, Moment of Triumph needs a special mention here as it is an incredible card for what it has done to the aggression aspect. Efficient hero healing is the thing that lets you stay in hero all game and not really mind. There is nothing sweeter than a hammer throw healing you seven. If you've dabbled with Thor before I'm sure you know the strength of Get Over Here!. It's a great way to engage a minion, or even just gather them if you're setting up a Lightning Strike. Also really good at popping tough, or clearing your own stun. Finally in the events it's the damage dealing ones, Relentless Assault and Into the Fray. They do what they say on the tin and they do it amazingly. In to the fray is just so versatile, you want damage, you've got it. You want thwart instead, you have that too. Amazing!
The rest of the cards do either health (Endurance) or ramp (Martial Prowess, Quincarrier, etc.) the odd one out is Battle Fury and is probably the weakest card in the deck. It can provide some versatility but I'm very much toying with just scrapping it for another Get Over Here!. (not sure it's an impactful decision either way to be honest)
I have had so much fun building and constructing this and hopefully in the essay I've scribbled down here, you can get a sense of how I intend the deck to work and maybe recreate it yourself. It's mainly intended for multiplayer, but I've found some success in solo just swapping out the two get over here's for two copies of you'll pay for that.
Please if you have any feedback let me know, the good, the bad or the ugly, I'd like to know about it. C
