Speed Demon

Ever wondered what the absolute limit of Marvel Champions is? Wonder no more, with the new Ronin archetype, Quicksilver can reach ludicrous speeds insanely fast. This deck turns the usual "slowsilver" into a speed demon. You can reach high speeds with minimal setup, or go all the way to your top speed.
Speed can do everything
This deck centers around the card that allows Quicksilver to use his speed for everything he may need to do. The Best Offense... is protection's new shiny toy, and Quicksilver sure knows how to use it. This card, along with all of the defense upgrades included in the deck, makes Quicksilver get around 5-7 stats consistently. This turns speed he would normally waste into big damage or thwarting, and insane defense. Additionally, this card is valuable from the start, able to help you reach a high speed even on turn one. I have had several games where I am able to play this and Innate Reflexes for 3 stats on the first turn, which solves the issue of needing huge amounts of set up to feel fast on Quicksilver.
Even more speed
Army of One is also insanely efficient in this deck (since we have no allies other than Scarlet Witch), effectively becoming another copy of Always Be Running. Cheap readies become huge damage events that allow Quicksilver to wipe out the board once he is set up.
What if I crash?
Even at your top speeds, you will take damage (which is always significant when you have only 9 hp), to prevent a catastrophic crash, this deck includes:
- Defensive Conditioning, which adds to your speed and keeps you running.
- What Doesn't Kill Me which helps you with survivability and readies.
- Ready for a Fight for safe flips to recover and get to use Serval Industries.
- and The Night Nurse for cheap healing and a way to get rid of those nasty status cards.
Need for speed
As you might have guessed, this level of speed requires a lot of extra energy. For this reason, one of your setup priorities is Friction Resistance, the best card for Quicksilver. Once you have set up that upgrade, your 1-cost readies essentially become 0-cost readies, giving you a lot of value once The Best Offense... is down. It can additionally meet the requirements for Ready for a Fight and What Doesn't Kill Me. Other important resource generators include Quincarrier and Defense Specialist, which you can use each round to soften up the cost of your speed. Avengers Mansion is a nice addition that can help you fish for readies in the late game.
Additional speed support
Stand Alone is a nice and cheap safety, it can allow you to defend up to 3 times in one round, but you will probably need more than that in a multiplayer game.
Energy Barrier can be switched for defense events if needed, they bring a lot of value when dealing with minions, often being able to kill low hp minions with the help of the retaliate provided by Ronin.
Other options were cut down for consistency and power, but are still worth exploring:
- Desperate Defense can be amazing in a multiplayer game, allowing you to defend for teamates, ready up, and retaliate on the villain (and can be paid for using Friction Resistance).
- Armored Vest is the classic defense upgrade, but it felt redundant when trying to get the engine running.
- Symbiote Suit is amazing, but I couldn't get it to work due to the high cost and encounter card (that last part could be solved with Mitigated threat, but that card is not yet available for deckbuilding). It is still highly synergistic since it provides tons of hp, extra resources, and more speed. I also found it nice when I had no The Best Offense... in hand.
- Superpower Training made a lot of sense on paper, but with the limited actions Quicksilver could take, he was never able to clear it consistently. This card becomes amazing if you have a teamate able to clear it easily.
- Perfect Defense cards like Hard to Ignore, Unflappable, Electrostatic Armor, and Dauntless are very powerful, but they oversturated the deck. If you change the approach of the deck from maximum readies to maximum defense it can work, but the whole point was being able to punch the villain at supersonic speeds repeatedly to win the game.
