The New Clear Nuclear Option: Be sure to say this title aloud. :-)

This deck name is inspired by this deck's use of Clear the Area, which, when combined with Captain Marvel and her allies' thwarting, sets up the "nuclear" option for damage with Captain Marvel's Energy Channel, which can deal up to 10 points of damage (11 if Float Like a Butterfly's ability is active), in addition to Photonic Blast and Waylay.

Nuclear is also in reference to Captain Marvel's energy output, which we saw in the movie The Marvel's was able to reignite a star's natural nuclear fusion "engine" to get it running again.

2-Deck Comparison Video Highlighting this Deck: For those interested, I go over this deck in my video 2-Deck Comparison Featuring Solo Marvel Champion's Justice Captain Marvel Deck. Of course, Solo Marvel Champion's Float Like a Fighter Pilot is also included. :-)

VILLAINS TESTED AGAINST: Klaw (1 game in standard; 1 in expert) and Magneto (1 game in standard; 3 games in expert).

Results: undefeated. Stage one was locked down every game, even in all the expert games against Magneto. They weren't all fast games, but Captain Marvel maintained control of the board in every game.

NOTABLE ELEMENTS OF PLAY:

Feeding the Energy Channel: The vast majority of cards added to this deck either can produce an energy resource, or they seek cards with an energy resource. The ones with energy resource or wild icons are apparent (just look at the deck for that); plus, Quincarrier can produce a wild resource at will.

The energy "seekers" include the following: Agent Coulson (who adds Counterintelligence to hand; Hope Summers (who adds Superpower cards to hand, which include the Energy Channels themselves and Cosmic Flight; Nick Fury (who draws 3 cards); and Clear the Area (which draws a card). The latter also helps set up Waylay's attack.

Going Nuclear: All of those cards help Captain Marvel to go nuclear with the Energy Channels, while the two copies of Waylay plus Float Like a Butterfly supplement that nuclear damage. The deck does not count on Float Like a Butterfly for its damage output but does expect it to be in play by the time the big damage push occurs. Then the numerous allies, Captain Marvel, and the 5 attack events and two Energy Channels all receive the extra bonus damage point. Note that it is possible to draw into Waylay with Clear the Area and then play Waylay within its response window.

Conclusion: Overall, this is a fun control deck with the capability of safely finishing off a villain once the kit is set up with the supports and Float Like a Butterfly. The consistent card draw from both Captain Marvel and Alpha Flight Station, as well as the cards added to the deck, makes it so that she always finds the cards she needs to blast away the problems presented on the board.

One of the the Waylays linked in the description is the Gamora encounter card, just fyi.

I'll try this out soon. Looks like a very interesting deck that speaks to my type of control play style. Were you able to test against more villains?

@cynthiacrescent Thanks! Looks like I did that twice! Hopefully, I fixed all of the Waylay links!

I haven't tested this deck against more villains mostly because I'm constantly testing decks for my own videos as well (especially for the 2-deck comparison videos), so I don't usually get a chance to test further.

I have to admit, though, this deck was my favorite I've played with Captain Marvel thus far. Like you, I play a control play style, and she really did a nice job taking care of minions and side schemes with this -- of course, the plentiful allies helped a lot with that. I'll be curious to hear your results with it, though! This deck is actually the one I'll be featuring in my next 2-deck comparison video, so that should come out first thing tomorrow morning or Saturday morning since I just finished my play testing of the "comparison" deck, too.

One of the surprises for me was Hope Summers. Theoretically, I thought she would be effective in this deck, but she ended up working out really well, even if she wasn't my first choice every time I had her in hand.

@cynthiacrescent If you end up being interested, I just linked my video in the description of this deck.
