Intro:
Apologies for the movie trope title! Star-Lord will not being finding out who he really is through a lazily-written female character here. Instead, they'll all work together to kick the butt of any villain they come across! What this decks offers is the first time a Star-Lord Leadership deck can reliably stun and confuse why still thwarting a ton, and dishing out loads of damage.
Card Combos:
-
When Mirage was previewed, my immediate thought was that Star-Lord + Leader of the Guardians combo would give a stun on almost any villain not in Stage 3. When you add in Effective Leadership + Danger Room Training + Make the Call, you get your first reliable stun in Leadership no matter what the stage.
-
Pixie's main use is to bring back Mirage for multiple stunning rounds. Before Leader of the Guardians is out, use Pixie to pull Forge, Beast or Professor X. Obviously, use all your Regroups on Pixie whenever they come up.
-
If you have Danger Room, you can pull Danger Room Training to play on an ally. When you're in Hero form, you'll get a card from Knowhere and Guardians of the Galaxy if you play an X-Men ally, and an attachment.
-
Make the Call + Professor X means a reliable confuse to allow you to flip to AE to play Danger Room.
-
Use Forge to get out Danger Room then Utopia. If you have a Regroup around at the beginning of the game, use it so Forge can get out both in two rounds.
-
Use Beast to pull Effective Leadership any time Mirage, Colossus, Gentle or Storm is in your hand. Otherwise, just pull a double resource.
Replacement/Additonal Cards:
-
Rapid Response works wonderfully with Mirage once you get her thwart up to 3. It's also fantastic for Beast and Forge.
-
Since you're flipping to AE a good bit, Clarity of Purpose works great as long as you can exhaust in AE to heal.
-
Band Together works amazingly with Beast, and gives you great late game resources overall.
-
Blaze of Glory was a late cut to this deck. The ready from Utopia, combined with the high damage and thwart of these allies makes it very powerful. I just already had 42 cards, and didn't want the 40 Card Police flashing their lights in the comment section. :)
Conclusion:
Star-Lord has always been my favorite hero to play in Leadership, and this X-Men deck shows how much card draw and versatility he can have. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

Nov 18, 2022Love MPDG discussions like “is Summer one for real or does Tom just treat her like one?” As for the deck… Mirage and Prof X are great SL allies. Recurring them via Make The Call and Pixie is strong but are you getting enough from 3x DRTraining, Danger Room, and GotG in those slots? In a multi-hero game where someone drops Honorary X-Men on you, Uncanny X-men, Havok, and Blaze of Glory seem like big upgrades. Mockingbird and Nick Fury + Rapid Response have been available since Star-Lord’s launch. Personally, I still find that more impactful because Star-Lord is likely to need multiple stuns/blockers in a single villain phase. RR provides that although Regroup gets stronger the more players you have in the game. Thanks for sharing! |
Nov 19, 2022I was waiting for storm to drop to make a Star-Lord X-men deck. I have the deck half-constructed but kept running into a hang-up with the anti-synergy of Danger Room and Guardians of the Galaxy. In play have you found you get good value out of both cards being there? |

Nov 19, 2022Blaze of Glory would be worth it I believe but i just love that card. I also don't hold fast to 40 cards either |
Dec 13, 2022Can you activate Danger Room, since your alter-ego doesn't have the "Mutant" trait? |

Dec 28, 2022I love that Star-Lord can basically take over any kind of tribal deck and make it work just because he gives the Guardian trait. The drawing engine with Knowhere + Danger Room + Guardians of the Galaxy looks insane. I'll definitely be giving this a try! My only question is: why Storm in particular? She's a bit too costly for what she actually does, imo. |
Great title!
Danger Room + Knowhere is a lot of free value. Cool stuff Inigo
