Out on a limb: Groot Leadership

After playing solo Groot protection I couldn't get through expert Klaw expert or expert Taskmaster. Groot would get overwhelmed by threat if you flipped to try and gain more growth counters. Time to turn to ol' trusty leadership! I focused on allies with 2 THW. Make the Call can grab an ally when you need extra THW. Rapid Response is a great target for Maria Hill, Hawkeye, Mockingbird and Nick Fury. In addition to Entangling Vines in a pinch Morale Boost can give you an extra THW and you can get even more value out of Lashing Vines. Also note that Morale Boost is not limited to once per round. Groot has so many 1-cost cards that Deft Focus and Helicarrier and Quincarrier can come in clutch. Also Lockjaw pairs great with The Power in All of Us for when you inevitably draw it without a target in hand. The tough status you get with "We Are Groot" help preserve your allies in order to draw more cards with Strength In Numbers. Great card to dig for your Fruitions or late game "I. AM. GROOT!"s to close out. One game I did 21 damage with two six growth count I.Am.GROOT!s, one Root Stomp and a ready with Lashing Vines to one-shot taskmaster on his stage III.

Nothing too crazy here. Your essential strategy is build up your board state early on and preserve your growth counters by blocking with allies. Get enough growth counters to go to town late game! Between the tough statuses Groot can generate and all your allies I think this could translate to multi-player easily but haven't gotten the chance to test that out. What can I say, leadership is good. Groot is good. Put them together, lots of fun.
