It's a cameo deck! This time Wolverine joins Angel. This makes some thematic sense thankfully both being with the X-men and X-Force at various points. We're not necessarily working with these traits together with them in this deck though. Instead we are focusing on the fact that Jubilee's Wolverine gets an automatic heal once we swap down to Alter-Ego form. Angel loves to be constantly changing forms! Slap down some leadership upgrades on Wolverine and we've got a beefy Voltroned Wolverine who we don't have to worry about his 2 consequential damage and needing him to wait to have a turn or two of downtime. Key cards of note and how to play them:

Main characters:

  • Cameo and Jubilee's Wolverine: The aggression version of Wolverine is a great ally but he needs a turn of downtime if you want to keep him out indefinitely. We're aiming to keep our Wolverine out and attacking (or thwarting) indefinitely with no downtime. The downsides to this is Wolverine is an expensive card to play and losing two cards at the start can hamper our startup. But screw that we're here to have fun with a cameo deck!

The Training:

  • Danger Room Training and Inspired: Standard leadership Voltron cards. Bump Wolverine up to 5 attack. Stick extra Inspired on Cannonball since he should also never be dying from consequential damage.

Getting our buddy out:

  • Call for Backup: The best option. Toss it down and Angel has good options to thwart. Get Wolverine out for free and your solid.
  • Suit Up: Good to grab Wolverine and DRT but is difficult to then play him on that same turn unless you have other resources available. You may have to hang on to him for the following turn. This is less ideal than Call for Backup but if you can pull it off with extra double resources in hand then great! You can also use it later to pull out Psylocke or Cannonball.

The Events:

  • Worthington Industries: Once down you should be throwing Metamorphosis back into the deck. Always be changing! Speaking of...
  • Metamorphosis: You basically should be swapping down to Alter-Ego to get your extra card draw and give Wolverine his free heal. You can then swap up to Archangel or Angel form, whatever works best. Circumstances obviously vary but this is the default move unless something else is appealing and Wolverine is nice and healthy.
  • Game Time: A staple in any training deck. More heals, more readies, more Wolverine swinging.
  • Side-by-Side: Getting another ready alongside a heal or stat buff is good.

The Supports/Upgrades:

  • Moira MactTaggert: As mentioned, Angel loves to flip. Moira is free card draw!
  • Weapon X: It says "until you discard an identity-specific card" it doesn't say it has to be your identity! You can potentially grab Wolverine this way. Even if not, Angel's cards are great and always worth getting. Worst case, it's another free card draw. "Angel of Life" helps negate damage.
  • Sidekick: Once again, doesn't say it has to be your identity-specific card! Stack on Wolverine for more HP to heal.
  • X-mansion: Heals for you or Wolverine to help off set Weapon X as well.

And the rest of the team:

  • Psylocke: Oh right, Psylocke is great too! Just not the star here.
  • Cannonball: Should basically never take consequential damage in an Angel deck so is very helpful as well! Stick an extra Inspired on him.

Once you build out supports and upgrades, you'll be pulling Angel event cards and can do all usual Angel shenanigans. Fly and claw (and Cannonball) your way to victory!
