Hulkwing (Hulking Leadership)
A Hulkling deck that focuses on his aerial shape.
What's in the deck
The deck consists of allies (all of them aerial), events (most of them cheap), and supports and upgrades to help with playing said allies and events. A couple of highlights:
- Aero: powers up other allies and Hulkling, preferably multiple times per round
- Soaring Acrobatics: use this on Hulkling or any of your allies
- Flying Formation: combo into this card with Strength In Numbers
- Strength in Diversity: given Hulkling's three (or four when aerial) traits, with a number of allies out, this number can easily reach somewhere between 6 and 10
- Flight Squadron: increments your ally limit, increasing the effectiveness of Strength in Diversity
What's not in the deck
The deck has no basic resources: between The Power of Flight, the resource/discount generators (Alien Physiology, Deft Focus, Quincarrier), and Hulkling's shapeshift upgrades, I found they weren't really needed.
I also considered a couple of other aerial allies. I didn't include Cloud 9 because I felt there was enough thwarting in the deck as is. I also left out Spectrum because I think you want to keep her in play, which means I would also want to include a couple of First Aids or Wingmen.
Finally, I did not include Assess the Situation. I think the card does not have any synergy with what the deck is trying to do, but if you find yourself wanting more cheap events, feel free to add a number of copies.
General game plan
Start in the Winged Shape: this gives you 2/2/2 stats and the aerial trait. Prioritise Flight Squadron and some allies; be careful when playing Wiccan, since he is not aerial (which could cost you the extra ally slot). Also try to get Soaring Acrobatics and a resource generator in play.
Your shape removes 2 threat each round when you play an event. Six of them have a cost of 0, which means it should be possible to trigger the effect at least once every round. It also means that you don't have to worry about flipping down (to get extra resources in the form of a shapeshift card, to trigger Altman Residence, or to make a basic recovery) once in a while.
After Flight Squadron is in play, it is possible to change shapes if you want, but it is by no means necessary.
Final thoughts
Hulking is a very versatile hero so this is just one of the directions in which he can be built. I hope you have fun with this one!
