Aggression Cable focused on using Man on the Wall and "Bring It!" to profit off minions engaged with you. Plays well alongside a "Minion Minder" deck which uses Pinned Down to incapacitate minions engaged with you so you can profit without additional risk.

Baby Cable

  • Start with Nathan Summers' Soldier X ability. There are multiple great choices, but I tend to choose Build Support or Superpower Training. (though I played this with a Protection Venom deck and really jump started things with Lock and Load)
  • If you start with Mind Scan in hand, this opens up your options for a turn 1 ready.
  • try to make use of your Hero Response each turn if you can, using allies to set things up for you.
  • try to get key upgrades in play (Man on the Wall, Deft Focus, X-Gene) during the first deck pass
  • there is only one minion-summoning card in this deck Angela. She's one of the best minion summons because (1) the minion is put into play rather than revealed and (2) you get to pick the minion out of 10 encounter cards, so you can avoid guard/patrol and other nasty abilities.
  • I've also included 2 copies of Target Spotter, which is great in a multiplayer setting to "steal" other player's minions that they reveal.
  • By the first deck pas, you want 1-2 minions in front of you so you can consistently get (1) cards with "Bring It!" (2) discount with Man on the Wall and (3) tough card on Throg
  • survive the early game with Cable's high health pool, and blocking with allies.

Teenage Cable

x-men-apocalypse-nathan-grey.jpg
  • by the midgame you want 2-3 minions engaged with you, ideally incapacitated by your protection teammate. This boosts your card draw and resource generation high above the curve
  • at this point, you should have 3-4 side schemes in the victory display, and it should be easy to make use of your Hero Response every turn.
  • your Hero Response to ready is once per phase, so one cheeky trick you can use is to enter the Villain phase with a side scheme at low threat (equal to or less than Cable's thwart), then defend (either the Villain's attack or one of the minions). Exhaust Askani'son and Graymalkin to finish the side scheme, then you profit and ready both Cable and Graymalkin, leaving only Askani'son exhausted.
  • using Plasma Rifle each turn is a great Tempo-play
  • abuse Man on the Wall to play out expensive supports and allies
  • at this point, blocking the Villain's activations with your allies usually guarantees safety. If you need to, Bodyslide down to use Professor and heal.
  • the goal of the midgame is to thin your deck, either by playing out upgrades or by putting more side-schemes in the victory display

Old Man Cable

  • now we're down to it. Cable is one of the strongest Heroes in Marvel Champions because he scales way past the difficulty level of the current environment.
  • Once you have 4-5 + side schemes in the Victory display, you'll want to be playing Cable's events to close out the game
  • X-Gene and Deft Focus discount his superpower-traited hero-specific events, allowing you to play more than one per turn
  • With 4+ minions engaged with you, "Bring It!" will take you through your deck every other turn. I would advise holding 1 copy of "Bring It!" so that you can be sure to play it each turn.
  • Psimitar is pretty reliably striking out for 2 damage/turn at this point.
  • Mind Scan trivializes the main scheme at this point, and destroys any side-schemes that come out (Readying Cable to attack again)
  • Telekinetic Blast will shred the Villain at this point.

  • There are 42 cards in this deck. When I play it, I remove 2 of the side schemes (based on what the Protection player is bringing, and/or what won't particularly help against the Villain I'm facing). So take out 2 that you don't jive with.
  • if you want to play this solo, I'd remove the Target Spotters and add a minion-summoning card (probably Spoiling for a Fight) and a high-health ally (like Hulk) who can chump a few minion attacks.
  • if you're bringing this to a meet-up, maybe pack 3 copies of Pinned Down and charm the Protection player into packing them into their deck (don't forget to get them back after!)

And that's the deck! Open to thoughts and suggestions, hope you are all having a great day!

@SoloMarvelChampion Cable is always a good time, but I feel like he falls into the sameiness trap of Maria Hill... You know what you want to do, you do the thing (play supports or victory side schemes) and then you win. It feels good to win with Cable (big attack/thwart numbers go ding ding ding), but deck building with him sometimes feels lackluster/constrained because if you don't include 7-10 side schemes, then you're not really playing his mini game...

You know?
