Shadowcat is my favorite character in Marvel Champions, but I've never really built a deck for her. There are so many good decks out there for her, with dr00's "Drunken Master" deck being my absolute favorite to play. You will still see some of the bones of that deck here!

I initially started thinking of modifying the deck with Ready for a Fight, which could help with those odd times where I could not get back to phased form. Then, I saw Boomguy's Rogue challenge, and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try something a little different with Kitty.

The idea behind this deck is for Kitty to defend and not take any damage, leaving her plenty of heath to fuel Rogue's ability. Energy Barrier and Med Team will keep Rogue safe from perishing due to consequential damage. The 7 cards that provide readying for Shadowcat allow her to be a true partner with Rogue rather than just a defender.

It's not the strongest Shadowcat deck, but I've had a lot of fun with it! The deck centers around getting Rogue out with an Energy Shield, but Kitty has enough flexibility to handle some turns on her own until Rogue makes her entrance.

Here is a breakdown of the card choices:

Allies

Shadowcat doesn't need a ton of allies, but of course Rogue is a must for this deck. Jocasta is great for recurring Quick Strike, one of Kitty's best cards.

Events

Shadowcat will be taking most of the hits, so a good number of defense events are necessary to allow Rogue to do Rogue things. These are:

Defiance- a nice affordable defense Powerful Punch- deals damage and gets her to phased form to take no damage before flipping back to solid. Solid form can also help pay for it. Preemptive strike- another affordable event that can deal the villain (or the villainous) some damage What Doesn't Kill Me-- Not a defense event, but since Rogue will be doing Kitty some damage, this will allow her to heal and get a ready out of it. Also, many of Kitty's defense events won't work on minions (since no boost card is turned over), so it will help us there as well.

Player Side Scheme

Specialized Training will optimize Shadowcat Surprise and other readying cards

Resources

This deck is built with lots of energy and physical resources to power Energy Shield, WDKM, and RFAF. I left out the double science resource to minimize other resources. Power of Protection helps with some of the pricier protection cards.

Upgrades and Supports

Resource Generators: X-Jet is the most important to help generate the resource you need to play some of her cards. Helicarrier helps with economy, Med Team can heal Rogue or Shadowcat.

Hard to Ignore is a good card to handle extra threat, and it carries physical resources for WDKM/RFAF.

Two copies of Energy Shield are included because Rogue will need one ASAP.

Ready for a Fight will allow Kitty to safely flip down and get some healing in plus an extra card. Even better, it will allow you to get to Phased form if you got stuck in Solid during the player phase!

Finally, Ready to Rumble provides 2 more readies for Shadowcat. I also realized, while building this deck, that Ready to Rumble can get Kitty readied back up if her nasty obligation forces her to flip from solid to phased while she is exhausted. This can help mitigate one of the most annoying obligations in the game.
