Silk's Sneaky Spider Shenanigans 2099
Dive into the intricate world of "Silk's Sneaky Spider Shenanigans 2099," a Leadership deck engineered for both resilience and spectacular finishes. Forged in the crucible of a challenging Green Goblin and Venom custom campaign, this build excels at navigating tough villain phases and then explodes with game-ending damage, consistently delivering 30+ point turns.

VILLAINS TESTED AGAINST to refine the deck This deck was tested against a custom Green Goblin campaign created by Solo Marvel Champion. Once he posts his video on it, I'll try to remember to link that video here. For now, here's the link to his channel: https://www.youtube.com/@solomarvelchampion.
According to the requirements of the campaign, I had to leave Spider-Man: Peter Parker out of the deck against the first two villains. I chose NOT to substitute in another ally and went with 6 allies instead for simplicity's sake. Here are the villain encounters: Risky Business, Venom, Rhino, and Mutagen Formula. Note that the campaign adds environments that make each encounter more challenging, especially for Risky Business. I played each encounter first in standard and then immediately afterward in expert.
Results: I had a couple of losses without Spider-Man: Peter Parker in the first two encounters, finding Venom especially challenging, but Risky Business was definitely no cakewalk either. It might have been wise to substitute Nick Fury for Peter Parker against the first couple of villains since I wasn't permitted to use Peter on those.
Damage Output: The damage was highest every time in the victories against the expert villains, likely because of the extended time needed to defeat each villain in expert that demands that one set up Silk's kit more extensively. Every one of those victories ended with over 30 points of damage for the final turn with 34, 32, 32, and 40 points of damage, respectively, against expert Risky Business, Venom, Rhino, and Mutagen Formula.
NOTABLE ELEMENTS OF PLAY:
-
Primary Target for the player side scheme, Build Support: Albert Moon, to set up the card draw initially for Silk's alter-ego ability and possibly for healing.
- Secondary Target(s): J. Jonah Jameson for the thwarting since Web of Life and Destiny is free to play when Silk is on her hero side.
-
Primary Target for the player side scheme Call for Backup and the event Across the Spider-Verse: Usually, Spider-Man 2099, though analyzing the situation is critical. At times, I've chosen Spider-Man: Peter Parker, at others, Ghost-Spider, and still others, Professor X. The needs or opportunities of the moment often outweigh the original intended ones.
-
Primary Target for Suit Up: Typically, Moon Girl. The upgrade of choice for Suit Up is always Clarity of Purpose, of which there are two -- one of which can be played should the opportunity arise.
- Secondary Target: Same considerations as for Call for Backup.
-
Primary Target for Make the Call: Spider-Man: Peter Parker. Again, take circumstances into account, including costs of the available allies in the discard pile or if one needs to confuse the villain with Professor X.
-
Rapid Response's Responsibility: To keep Spider-Man 2099 in play, also enabling him a second activation. Across the Spider-Verse, though, is a nice backup to get him back into play.
-
Sneak Attack Shenanigans: Sneak Attack often doesn't get used in the early game, but it is the catalyst for the most creative turns and is often involved in the high-damage final turns that eliminate the enemy, with the following possibilities:
- Bounce Back into Play: As an example, suppose Ghost-Spider begins the turn in play and attacks.
- Afterward, Spider-Man 2099 thwarts and puts Ghost-Spider into your hand. As Ghost-Spider leaves play, Ghost-Spider's interrupt let's you choose an identity-specific event from Silk's deck, say Swinging Silk Kick and put it into hand, while Web of Life and Destiny draws you a card.
- You decide you want to play the attack card but can't afford to also play Ghost-Spider again, so you you put her back into play with Sneak Attack to attack once again, and then play Swinging Silk Kick.
- Much more of that kind of thing can continue to occur if you happen to also have Spider-Man: Peter Parker, Rapid Response, and/or any of the other Web-Warriors in play. New creative combinations often present themselves, especially in those final attack turns that begin in alter-ego with Albert Moon tucking a card under Cindy Moon, who then draws 2 cards with her ability.
- Increased Hand Size at End of Turn: When a Web-Warrior is discarded at the end of the phase, a card is drawn if Web of Life and Destiny is in play, thus increasing one's hand size at the end of the round.
- Alter-Ego Act of Desperation: Sneak Attack is an event with an action (NOT merely a hero action), so it can put Moon Girl into play when an extra 2 damage or thwarting needs to occur since both Cindy Moon and Moon Girl are genius traited.
Conclusion:
Ultimately, "Silk's Sneaky Spider Shenanigans 2099" invites you to explore the true depths of strategic play within Marvel Champions. Its ability to pivot and capitalize on unique card interactions, especially with well-timed Sneak Attack plays, ensures that every victory feels earned and every high-damage finish is incredibly satisfying.
