Nightcrawler is known as the reliable rock, the sort to turn the other cheek and try to do the right thing. But sometimes, the right thing is getting angry and standing up to stop bad things from happening. And when he gets angry, he gets really angry.
Allies We don't need a lot of these, thanks to Bamf! helping us mitigate damage, so the ones we bring we can use for their basic activations. Chumping is for chumps!
- Glob is our most disposable ally, as his damage only procs when he enters play,
- Goldballs is one we'll want to use ever activation for, if we can, as his damage is so potent
- Sunfire is a favorite standby to help get rid of any attachments, and we have plenty of energy resources in-kit.
- Synch is here to boost defense, if we need it, or boost our thwart to 3 for side schemes, or just push damage. He also works for boosting recovery. A great, flexible ally.
- Daytripper is another we want to get down for Bamf! access, and then get her back into the discard for the deck pass.
Events We have three here in aggression, and they are all very angry.
- Take That! is amazing with Nightcrawler. Along with Rogue, Cyclops, Iceman, Valkyrie, and a few others, Nightcrawler is one of the few characters that can put upgrades on the villain, and Take That! is great value in attacking the villain. If you can get Marked on a minion, along with Gatekeeper, it's very good against minions, as well.
- Toe to Toe really helps Nightcrawler out. Nothing is sadder than drawing a Tally Ho! and not being able to use it. You either hold it until the villain phase (worth doing, sometimes) or you can make the villain attack you, then deal 3 back (4 with the #Cutleasses).
- Fusillade is awesome at pushing damage through, and we can exhaust Kurt's Cutlassessses to do it!
Player Side Scheme
- Lock and Load This is pretty much for Kurt's Cutlasses, but can also be used for Jarnbjorn if you already have that out. Kurt's Cutlasses are so valuable, this side scheme is worth having, as it's basically a second copy.
- Specialized Training is there to help get our defense up to 6 (with Synch's help. That will mitigate most damage from the villain.
- Keep Up the Pressure gets us an attack event when we need it, and can really juice up events like 'Port and Punch or Teleport Drop
Support
- The X-Jet is money in the bank to help with economy and is a clutch way to get a Bamf!f if you want to keep all of your cards
Upgrades
- Deft Focus hits all of our events (except Tally Ho! in the villain phase) and also can play Prehensile Tail
- X-Gene Helps us play all of our awesome events
- Gatekeeper and Marked help us get bigger value from killing minions, especially if we can use Take That!
- Jarnbjorn is there to pop a little more damage through, when needed. Even without The X-Jet out, we can always get a Bamf!f from our discard to pay the cost.
Some tips
- Don't be afraid to let a Bamf! float. If, going into the villain phase, you have a lot of cards that do damage contingent on #Bamf, sometimes doing a basic defense instead means the difference between playing one or two events. Not having to pitch a card to get #bamf can be clutch, just be wary of stun events.
- Specialized Training can really go in any direction. You could use it to boost thwarting, which he'll do often with his basic, defense if there are no others clamoring for it, or attack if you're the main damage dealer.
- Take That! seems to often get used for villain damage in my proxy games, but it can come in handy for minions that are juiced from Gatekeeper.
Sometimes good people have to get angry. Sometimes good people forget that. And now it's time to make the villain remember what happens when good people remember that.

Sep 20, 2024This is gonna be the first NC deck I sleeve up! Fun |
Sep 21, 2024I was thinking about not only quitting this game, but giving all the cards to my toddlers to fold and crumple and chomp on. This deck got published - I bought an extra copy of everything. |
Sep 21, 2024Nice write up! Can’t wait to try this! |
Sep 21, 2024I was curious how Take That would feel with Nightcrawler. Super cool angry deck! There’s so much damage here that I never felt worried about villain or minions. Awesome deck! And it played really well, never felt unsure of what to do with my hand or when to Bamf! |

Sep 24, 2024An absolute banger of a deck. Aggression really is the most exciting aspect to brew! |

Oct 01, 2024Maybe a dumb question, but does the Defense Specialist response work when he uses Bamf! ? |

Oct 03, 2024I’ve been working on an aggression Nightcrawler build. I came to a lot of the same conclusions. I have been a fan of Tactic Upgrades since Cyclops, but now with all the characters that have come out and benefited (thinking of Iceman’s hero pack in particular with Shark Girl and Glob), it really shines with Nightcrawler as he constantly tutors Bamf!s into hand and freely plays them. The one thing you’ve got here that I didn’t consider, but you are so right, is the power of Toe To Toe, so I can reliably play Tally Ho!, sounds pretty good. Will play with that idea a bit. I was considering Honed Technique along with Take That! making it a 10 Damage attack, but there just doesn’t seem to be enough Genius Resources to depend on it for in Nightcrawler’s core kit to really warrant it. |
Oct 03, 2024Oh, and I also would consider Suppressing Fire Fire as it is another attachment you can apply and give a good way to heal up a lil bit too |
Low key I think Aggression is one of Nightcrawler's best aspects! I went with a Danger Room build with like Shark Girl and co, but the fact that Cutlasses don't exhaust is really nice!!
