Web of Life and Destiny? Here it's a Web of Slicing Enemies.

The final deck in my Unusual X-Force series! But just why is it unusual for X-23?

Enter the Web-Warriors, who I've not seen used on her. Notably, Spider-Man Otto Octavius can ready X-23's Claws.

Thanks to Chance Encounter we can often grab Spider-Man Otto Octavius 1-2 extra times per deck cycle. Unlike Across the Spider-Verse, Chance Encounter lets us play Otto from our hand.

And thanks to X-23's crazy baseline output, you can defeat Build Support without spending anything more on removing it, making Web of Life and Destiny especially easy to get into play this way. Or just clear a starting side scheme (and even some starting minions), leaving our whole Turn 1 hand free to be spent on setting up!

Overview:

  • Archetype: Web-Warriors / Side Schemes
  • Difficulty: Above Average
  • Play Style: Regular Tempo
  • Recommended Player Count: 1-2
  • Ideal Aspect Partner: Leadership

Mulligan Priorities:

Note that this deck has a LOT of valuable cards and different paths to get many of them. When judging your opening hand remember the overall goal is to find a smooth route to enable our Web-Warriors and to play Honey Badger.

Simple Guide to Success:

  1. Web of Life and Destiny is incredibly powerful, and so it's generally our top priority in this deck. Found Build Support? Use it to get this in play!

  2. Alternatively, in high pressure games, Honey Badger should often be our top priority due to the burst of output she provides. And either way, should generally be your second-highest priority.

  3. Between 2x One Way or Another and 3x player side schemes, Chance Encounter is very consistent. Bonus points if the scenarios starts with a side scheme out. Use this to grab Honey Badger or any Web-Warrior you like.

  4. Ghost-Spider enables all kinds of combos with the events she can grab, but sometimes the greatest use is simply to find Regenerative Longevity to reliably heal Honey Badger!

  5. Spider-Man Otto Octavius can ready your claws, and that's awesome. Particularly combined with Claw Mastery, Honey Badger and maybe even a Game Time. But he can also ready Grim Resolve!

  6. Helicarrier isn't super desirable to play raw outside of Turn 1, but makes an excellent target for Build Support if Web of Life and Destiny is already in play.

  7. Are Web of Life and Destiny and Build Support buried low in your deck? Don't worry. You can play Spider-Woman or Spider-Man Pavitr Prabhakar to enable your Web-Warrior shenanigans too! And you can Chance Encounter them at your convenience.

Ending The Game:

All in all, this JUSTICE deck can potentially deal 75+ damage in one turn when set up.

Realistic? Absolutely not, maximum damage would require complicated sequencing and Hobie getting very lucky with his boost icons, etc etc. But stay with me.

The point is that even finding a third of that damage is enough to defeat any villain's final stage in solo play on Expert. A third. Now that's super easy to do.

Honey Badger with Mission Training and Spider-Man Otto Octavius are the keys along with Claw Mastery and Game Time.

It sounds like a lot, but remember you don't need the full combo whatsoever. And cards like Ghost-Spider, Chance Encounter, One Way or Another and Web of Life and Destiny help you find things. You can also hold a combo piece found on one turn to the next turn when you're ready to end the game.

And that about does it! Thanks for reading.

Good luck and have fun!

Definitely going to be giving this a shot. I had usually stayed in Protection or Aggression with X-23 but she does really well in justice. Interested to see her with the web warriors

I use think I liked X-23 in protection the most, but the more I play her in Justice, like this one, the more I realize that I enjoy her in Justice the most, especially with Chance Encounter. Now seeing Otto get to ready your claws to go again AND a readable Honey Badger…that is the definition of berserker fun to me! Thanks for posting the deck!

Oof…I should have re-read the comment before posting. Not that it matters, however, it should have started “I used to think…” and Honeybadger is “readyable” not “readable,” though I do enjoy reading her text box every time I ready X-23. sigh

I do love me some Chance Encounter! Works really well for this!

@Castlefrank47 + @andyr Thanks both! I'm an enormous fan of Protection X-23 but, at least for solo play, Justice is my favorite for her. (And I think this is heresy, but Aggression is actually my least favorite here!)

@Man-is-Obsolete Yeah! It's probably my favorite card in all of Justice for her.

Por que poner a Spiderwoman si nadie confunde? Es por la carta que obtendrás cuando sea derrotada?

@Papaporio exacto, pq es un web-warrior y cuadra con la estrategia.

i've been having a lot of fun with web-warriors shell in non-WW heroes lately. Captain Marvel is the one i've been playing lately cos of Energy Absorption. what i really appreciated was Build Support: it can get it for your for free, but you're not totally beholden to it, like other strategies of like non-x-men heroes with Weapon X, for example. you can still play it, it's just more expensive.

also a huge fan of Chance Encounter for more Honey Badger. X-23 is a crazy thwarting machine that often goes overlooked. with honey badger in play, she can easily thwart at least 7 with just their basic activations. absolute value town.
