Goal to build a deck that features the current spotlit card:Get Rage-y

Building around Get Rage-y is a tough ask because of the one per deck restriction. The great part about Get Rage-y is the +1 ATK lasts the whole phase. So there are two thoughts:

  • Getting more readies gets more use out of the attack bonus.
  • Get Rage-y stacks with itself, so playing it more times gets more uses.

There are two heroes in this game that can recur Get Rage-y to hand, Rogue and Adam Warlock. Adam Warlock gets you access to more readying effects and a bigger pool of cards to go with it. Quantum Magic costs 1 and is there are 2 copies. Rogue is limited to the Pool ascpect. Superpower Adaptation costs 0 and has 3 copies. Since we are building around Get Rage-y, I went with Rogue to hopefully stack it more.

GAME PLAN:

Build Your Board

There are two obvious parts to the combo, an ally that doesn't take consequential damage + Get Rage-y. Advantageously, all pool allies don't take consequential damage. Second part is an Amplify Icon, as seen on Headpool and Lady Deadpool getting us the ready on "I Got This". Third part Plot Convenience with Get Rage-y stored under it. Finally the optional part, Sidearm on whichever pool ally has the highest attack on your board.

GET RAGE-Y

Ideally, you go down to Alter-Ego before your big turn to get some additional cards. Lady Deadpool is the most ideal for the big turn, since she has 2 attack and only the Amplify Icon. With this, you shouldn't need any other pool allies in play. Lady Deadpool with Touched attached and Sidearm attacks for 3. Get Rage-y from under Plot Convenience, she attacks for 4. Each Superpower Adaptation goes 5, 6, then 7. Add in two "I Got This" (assuming you have Moira MacTaggert or The X-Jet) an attack for 7 and 7. Rounding total of 39 damage. Probably not realistic to have all 3 Superpower Adaptation in hand and 2 "I Got This" at one time, unless you intentionally hold onto those cards. More realistic is you get 2 or 3 readies and hang on to Get Rage-y to put back under Plot Convenience next turn.

Icon Management

This deck takes time to build out (at least one deck pass), so you aren't going to see any of the Icons except on Allies. This was intentional to survive to the combo. Of the icons, there is Acceleration and Amplify. Amplify is easily handled by blocking with allies. Acceleration activates the threat removal on "I Got This" giving you some additional threat removal to combat this.

Non-Pool Allies

Forge hopefully lines up to where you can play out The X-Jet with a Pool Resource. Alternatively he gets you a resource back if you just discard The X-Jet.

Ironheart much the same as Forge, cheap blocking.

Angel is cheap for his stats because Rogue is traited X-men. The real nice part is that he works with Soaring Acrobatics if you for some reason can't use it on Rogue due to touched not being on an ally.

Everything Else

Deft Focus is obvious for Rogue and as a bonus works with Healing Factor.

Stick-To-Itiveness is an obvious include with Rogue's Jacket.

Soaring Acrobatics is great for Rogue with Touched on an ally.

ALTERNATE CONSIDERATIONS:

Pandapool was considered with the 3 ATK and activating card draw on "I Got This". This was a safe play on my part, as you really want to have him down for a turn before your big kill. I wouldn't fault anyone from adding Pandapool replacing something like Stick-To-Itiveness that doesn't combo with Get Rage-y.

"I Got This" #3 is a consideration, especially if you're running Pandapool. Since this deck is fishing for the ideal combination of 3 Superpower Adaptation and 2 "I Got This". I figured it best, I leave it at 2.

Deadpool Corps Ship is risky similar to Pandapool but if you use it on a big combo turn you may not see the consequences. With only running 4 Pool allies, I felt it was best left out and to wait a turn. Consider adding if you go heavier on the Pool allies.
