Late for the Sinister Motives party, I FINALLY got my box! I've been eager to get my hands on this one more than any other, first because the VILLAINS, and then because the SHIELD cards! I absolutely LOVE theme decks!
At first I tried a Black Widow SHIELD deck, but THB I found it wasn't that fun, just another "Natasha wins in AE". I've also been eager to try this one, a Cap SHIELD deck, with Dum Dum - one hell of a cool ally!
So I checked what's on the website right now, I'm not the only one to have considered this, of course. But some omissions in other decklists (TPIAOU, for instance) made me start the deck building from scratch. So, here's my take on it.
SHIELD!
All allies are SHIELD, so is Helicarrier, Government Liaison, Sky-Destroyer, Homeland Intervention, Field Agent.
This opens up a lot of possible combos: reduced cost with Government Liaison, 2 DMG every time you play one of these (Sky-Destroyer), lots of THW options for Homeland Intervention and, of course, buffing Dum Dum Dugan up to 6 DMG AND using Field Agents to negate the consequential.
Costly stuff!
So many of the SHIELD cards I wanted in here are basics and also quite costly so, of course, The Power in All of Us felt absolutely necessary.
I also like to make use of Steve's 'Living Legend' to get allies at a discounted price! Using Helicarrier and double resources too makes it a pretty sweet deal (it was pointed out to me that you can't use Government Liaison in AE, thanks @wehehe)! Theme reasons aside, this makes Cap a very effective choice here.
SOLO
I tried the deck in true solo, so, I like having the opportunity to flip safely to AE to use Steve's 'Living Legend' and Steve's Apartment. In order to do this, Sonic Rifle, but also the Agent Coulson + Counterintelligence combo +Under Surveillance round up my deck.
Finally, I also threw in Target Acquired, another target for Agent Coulson to get his hands on and keep you safe from nasty boost cards. If it feels unnecessary (depending on the villain you face), Quake can be a solid choice here, altough I'll admit the 3 ally slots are usually full!
So far it's been a fun deck to play with, just don't expect a rush deck as the combos tend to take some time to install but once it gets going, I find it's quite rewarding!
Have fun!

Apr 21, 2022This looks like a lot of fun to play! . Just one little spot. You can't use Government Liaison in AE, it's a hero action. |
Apr 21, 2022Thanks guys!

Apr 22, 2022I quite like it when Cap A aren't all about Cap A. This looks like fun, and I've been wanting to try a full SHIELD themed deck. Looks fantastic. I'm curious why you didn't include the Monica Chang and Surveillance Team combo? |

I guess if you're not worried about the villain scheming you could take out Coulson and the prep cards for Chang and surveillance, or put them in instead of Sonic Rifle. |
Apr 23, 2022Honestly you should be able to exhaust Cap's Shield to buff Dum Dum |

Apr 23, 2022I also settled on Cap as the best user of the S.H.I.E.L.D keyword... and also Groot. I second Monica Chang. It has nothing to do with how good Surveillance Team can be, rather, its putting two cards into play for 4 resources (3 + opportunity cost of the card you play). This keyword cares more about the S.H.I.E.L.D. keyword than what the cards actually do, and powering up Homeland Intervention and Dum Dum Dugan quickly is much better than anything Agent Coulson can fetch. Speaking of which, you're missing their best piece Homeland Intervention. After testing I believe that Chang and Intervention are just plain better than all the Coulson and Sonic stuff unless you're Black Widow, of which you said you were bored! |
Apr 23, 2022Sorry, mental block here, ofc you're running Intervention! |

Honestly it's up to what you like better, I'd rather cut the Sonic Rifles instead of Agent Coulson to make room for Chang. I think it depends on the villain you face... would you rather confuse him or spend your resources on thwarting? Do you face nasty boosts or not (Target Acquired)? Is the villain STEADY or STALWART and Counterintelligence is your best or only SCH prevention?

Apr 24, 2022Thanks for posting this deck. The Cap & SHIELD synergy is bringing a lot of fun to playing an old character. I home-brewed my own version after reading this and it was a blast and really efficient. I squeezed the Monica Chang & Surveillance Team combo in with Agent Coulson & Counterintelligence as well as Quincarrier, more Government Liaison, and Team-Building Exercise. Once the board was set, cards just payed for themselves and the villain could never catch up. The hardest part was killing off allies when I had others waiting on deck…it was pretty swarmy. I dropped Sky-Destroyer, Dum Dum Dugan, Avengers Mansion, and Sonic Rifle. With so many complementary cards, I agree with other comments that there alot of different ways to go with this deck…they all seem good and could be tailored to the villain (it was hard to stay at 40 cards but it happened). Thanks for the inspiration! |

Thanks for the comment, I appreciate! |
Sweet deck! I have yet to try DUM DUM (lol) but this seems like a good version. Counterintelligance is great for keeping threat in check in a deck that likes to be in AE, but I have found with the Sinmo box I've been playing Coulson with Target Acquired instead, so many nasty boost abilities now
