This deck was originally made for Thor in order to play with the minion-summoning toys in Leadership. I then adapted it to Valkyrie and it works satisfyingly well. I really never enjoyed Valkyrie until trying her out in Leadership. I enjoy her kit much more at this point.

I play on Standard true solo so I can't comment on how successful this would be in expert.

Never put Death-Glow on the Villain. This shuts down all of Val's tools. The only time I will ever put this on the villain is if I know for sure I will remove it on the same turn (either by flipping down or by defeating the villain's first stage).

Allies provide most of your defense, and occasionally you can take a hit undefended. You want to try to keep Valkyrie ready going into the player phase. Godlike Stamina and Valhalla help keep your health up. You can go to Alter-Ego in this deck occasionally, but you don't generally need to use your basic recovery.

Dragonfang is a really important card. Most of the time you would like Valkyrie to be the one defeating a minion (this triggers Valhalla and readies Valkyrie too). Dragonfang enables this.

Helicarrier and Quincarrier help with economy. Helicarrier pays for your Deathglow. I am typically using Chooser of the Slain every time I draw it, also helping with economy. Deathglow goes on all minions except the last one slain; you can put Deathglow on the last minion too if it's not going to impede you from paying for something else. It's uncommon to go into the villain phase with minions left on the table.

Beta Ray Bill is in here and he sometimes competes with Val for getting the final hit on a minion. I wanted to include The Bifrost in this deck for the fun factor. Having Beta Ray in here may not be ideal, but there are very few Asgard allies in basic and leadership. He is still a good card, sees play in most games, and I do get the benefit of his effect often. I am often summoning more than one minion in a turn (minion summoning effects here include Hugin & Munin, Squared Off, and Chooser of the Slain). Save a resource and keep Deathglow off of the second minion (or third), and instead let Beta Ray take the final hit. If removing threat via his effect is not necessary, he will attack the villain.

Strength in Diversity does good work here, this is typically used for thwarting but it can do little pings of damage too, knocking off toughs, softening up a minion for Val to finish, etc. Note that Strength in Diversity is not a Thwart (or Attack) event, and Flight of the Valkyrior is also not a Thwart card. Val does not care about being confused.

Valkyrie's nemesis set is awful for her. Get Flight of the Valkyrior on the table and leave it there: don't trigger it, and just let your allies do the thwarting. When Enchantress comes up (and she will; it's a curse of Val's), use allies to defeat her (or some other minion) with Deathglow attached, then use Flight of the Valkyrior to clear Enchantress's side scheme. Val does not need to get the final hit in order to trigger Flight of the Valkyrior. This deck thwarts well enough without Flight of the Valkyrior, I am typically keeping that on the table specifically to deal with Enchantress's side scheme if it comes up. Once the side scheme is off the table, you can pay to remove Seduced from Valkyrie and get back to business.

Allies are chosen for either for 1) thematics/Asgard trait or 2) economy/value.

It's pretty rare for me to play Aragorn, Valkyrie's Spear, or Shieldmaiden during any game. I guess I'll play Aragorn more than the other two, but still generally not using them. Not using Annabelle Riggs very often either. If it works out, she is helpful, but you're not frequently in Alter-Ego in this deck, so she is often a blank ally with poor stats. Just a blocker.
