Black Panther has one of the most powerful alter-ego abilities with The Golden City allowing him to draw two cards. The thought behind this deck is to pair this ability with Change of Fortune which allows you to draw two cards when defeating an enemy during the villain phase. Add in Avengers Mansion and Black Panther now has the ability to have an 11 card hand size each turn.

For the purists out there who might question why there are 46 cards in the deck instead of 40, when you are getting 11 cards per turn, and 19 of your cards are upgrades or supports, you'll be burning through your deck pretty quickly towards the end of the game, incurring many extra encounter cards.

The goal with this deck is to get set up for the following approach:

  1. Play Ready for a Fight using Quincarrier, Powerful Punch or Counter-Punch. It is nice to have Practiced Plan out as well.
  2. Flip to alter-ego, use The Golden City to draw two cards and play as many upgrades and supports as you can. Get yourself a tough card using Hidden Base and maybe heal up using Dr. Sinclair.
  3. At the end of your turn draw back up to 6 cards in hand
  4. When the villain or a minion would scheme against you flip back to hero form using Ready for a Fight
  5. We typically want to avoid having to use a basic defence against the villain, thus the inclusion of Hidden Base and Iron Fist to pick up Tough / Stun status cards but we can certainly play Cuts Both Ways to get retaliate two and spend a lightning resource if Nova is in play to do two damage to the villain.
  6. When minions attack, we want to finish them off to trigger Change of Fortune. This can happen by using Nova's ability to deal two damage by spending a lightning resource, using any copies of Energy Barrier, Counter-Punch (although this must be preceded by Cuts Both Ways or Powerful Punch so that we are actually defending), Powerful Punch, and T'Challa's retaliate 1.
  7. When the hero phase starts, play each copy of Wakanda Forever! that you can to do damage, heal damage and remove threat. Use the Mansion to draw another card and go back to Step 1.

The allies included here all have a particular purpose:

I haven't had a chance to test this deck out, but got really excited with the idea and I need to share it with a friend who is coming over this weekend to play, so I thought the easiest way to do that would be to publish it here. I will provide more updates later on how this deck plays.

Shuri is also great to get Ready for a Fight back to hand! Looks like a fun deck.
