Natasha Returns for a Fight
This deck was inspired by VJakson's Return the Fury deck.
I'm running both Return the Favor and Ready for a Fight!
See it in action here against Black Widow!
The Combo
The combo here is Return the Favor and Grappling Hook:
- In hero form, have Grappling Hook in play, and then play Return the Favor. The cost (before the cost arrow) to deal 5 damage is "Discard until you get a Treachery. Reveal that Treachery". Two things can happen:
- You Whiff: You discard the entire encounter deck without hitting a Treachery (rare unless there are only a few cards left in the encounter deck when you play RtF) in which case you're unable to pay the cost and thus can't deal the damage.
- You Hit: You discard a Treachery and Reveal it (you've met the cost and can deal 5 damage, but you have to "worry" about the Treachery, BUT...).
- ...since you had Grappling Hook in play you DON'T have to worry about that treachery, because the cost of using Grappling Hook is an Interrupt: When you reveal a treachery, discard Grappling Hook, at which point you get the effect of "cancel the effects of the Treachery and discard it". So...
- ...paying the cost of Return the Favor (...reveal that Treachery) ALSO lets you pay the cost of Grappling Hook (Interrupt: When you reveal a treachery, discard Grappling Hook)...
- ...so you get the effects on both cards: deal 5 damage to the Villain and cancel the effects of that treachery and discard it.
- But wait, there's more:
- Grappling Hook is a PREPARATION card, which is what Black Widow's "Widowmaker" Response is looking for: "After you trigger the ability of a PREPARATION card you control, deal 1 damage to an enemy." This brings the total damage up to 6.
- If you also have Practiced Plan in play, discarding Grappling Hook will trigger its Response, sending Grappling Hook back to your hand, at which point Widowmaker can fire again because you've just discarded another PREPARATION card, bringing the total damage to 7.
This will also heal 2 damage from White Widow, so you could theoretically keep her in play all game for her Thwart of 2.
Black Widow's Gauntlet will pay the required for Ready for a Fight allowing you to flip down to alter and use Safe House #29 to get the Practiced Plan back and play it to get a card draw with your Mission Prep Response, and Fitz can find several cards while you're down there:
Aside from that the deck uses a 13 card S.H.I.E.L.D. package to steal some additional damage with Sky-Destroyer, and Helicarrier plus Government Liaison makes playing them cheaper

Jul 25, 2025Love Black Widow - and pairing her with White Widow. As someone who likes to play a bit of villain control, I’m a big Grappling Hook fan too. The combo with Return the favour and Practiced Plan looks fun. I’ll give this a go! |

With Practiced Plan you could of course return any of your PREPARATION cards to hand, but I pretty much always return Grappling Hook to give the middle finger to the encounter deck LOL |

Aug 17, 2025I had a blast playing this deck. Everything synergizes so well once you get it going. It was particularly fun against Enchantress and Loki with all their treacheries. |

Nov 29, 2025A thousand apologies, I am rather new to the game. I have played this deck several times now but I don't understand the finesse of the mechanics... Could you possibly elaborate a bit more in the description so that newbies like me can understand better ? Many thanks |
