"In Chess, the Pawns Go First" ~ Magneto in X-Men: The Last Stand

This deck is designed to sacrifice allies to benefit Magneto...

  • "You Got This!"
  • Go Down Swinging
  • Noble Sacrifice
  • Sneak Attack: All allies are X-MEN, so this will work on any of them. They're "sacrificed" at the end of the phase anyway, but you can get more value from them with one of the previous three "sacrifice" methods. Also, Utopia only cares about X-MEN "entering play", so this will still cause a Utopia Ready. Just don't sneak in Pixie because she has a "when played from hand" Response.

...with a few ways to get them back:

  • Pixie
  • Call for Backup
  • Won't Stay Down: If you really want to get a specific ally back with this after sacrificing them, don't let it get shuffled back into your deck. This means you need to either:
    • Forgo your Survivor Response after flipping down to Alter-Ego
    • or make sure you have at least three cards on top of the ally (by playing cards or Magnetic Pull) so you can do Survivor AND use Won't Stay Down to get the ally back to hand.

Of course, Magnetic Pull might discard allies as well, so while Make the Call would be nice I'm already sitting at 42 cards. However, if your really want Make the Call (which could also be discarded with Magnetic Pull btw) you can trade out two sacrifice cards for two copies of it.

Extra Readies

This deck isn't "always ready", but you do get some extra readies:

Tough

Colossus comes with his own tough, so he gets a "free" block if you want it. I like to Sneak him in, attack for 3, then play:

You can get a tough with:

Why not use "To Me, My X-Men!" instead of Sneak Attack? if you are using all x-men is just better i think

@Kazlavitz because "To Me, My X-Men!" might whiff, and since I'm going to "sacrifice" allies they'll leave play anyway.

@turtles04 thanks! I had to rewatch X-Men: The Last Stand to make sure I got it right. Having typed that, I wish I'd included Last Stand in this list LOL

Honestly magneto is the one hero that works equally as well with larger deck sizes so 42 is not a hinderance and in fact you still have room for 8 more cards to slot in. Literally no reason not to have 50 cards.

@countingsheep I generally don't mind going over 40, I just chose not to go 50. Feel free to add 8 more cards to this deck, but I'm happy with how it's running at 42. Make the Call would be good, but I don't need it, and I don't want to add cards I don't need.
