Redemption is fun and all... But I actually prefer this version for Headcanon reasons. This is just Cable executing a mission with some mental support from Psionic friends like Mother Askani herself.
The playstyle remains the same.
Mulligan for enough thwart capability to clear a PSS first phase (coordinate with players for multi). Ideally that PSS is Specialized Training and placed using setup ability. This gives you a +1 Thwart for Gunboat Diplomacy right off the bat, and a card draw for basic thwart action.
From here, get an ally out on the table for Gunboats. The Non Professor X allies are best here, as you will likely want this one to stick around. So try not to block with them, activate sparingly if you do not draw a Gunboat Diplomacy
Continue setup by getting everything (Supports and Upgrades) you can on the table while thwarting down PSS. Always use Chance Encounter. Professor X is still a great target as he gives you a big Gunboat Diplomacy, confuses the villain, and is a great blocker.
Flip to AE often to use Professor to grab PSS as needed, and X-Bunker to draw a card. Should be safe to flip between excessive thwarting and confused villain.
Once built up you can start dropping Plasma Rifle shots and Telekinetic Blast all with Gunboat support.
Things to remember!
Gunboat Diplomacy is a Thwart and an Attack. It can ready Cable. It can be scooped up with Keep Up the Pressure. The damage and thwart from it can be divided however you like.
All allies, and a good amount of Cable events are Psionic trait... so The Power of the Mind is pretty useful.
One Way or Another requires you to be able to draw a side scheme from encounter deck. So pay attention to what is remaining in the encounter deck.
Alternate options
Sense of Justice removed, and 1 copy of For Justice! to get down to a slimmer 40 card deck. Possible option is to replace Professor X with Bishop or Gambit but ruins the psionics theme.
Update-
Psimitar Belongs here and I definitely slept on it. I added this as a 41st card, and do not regret. There is a lot of Psionics in the deck so it just makes sense. It also stays on the board so the deck still thins.
At this point this deck has cleared the entire RotRS scenarios, and Unus all on Expert I with Std III. Zola with DOOM Chair is a highlight. I get that none of those are particularly hard scenarios, but this deck roasted them in true solo. It works well for 2P but not much testing in 3P with this setup.
