Introduction

This deck is optimized and tested for Standard II Expert (Multiplayer).

I designed this deck to always be able to put out good thwart numbers in multiplayer and great numbers when your combo (more on this later) comes online. The problem with most thwart focused decks is the dead turns when the Marvel Gods turn their backs on you and RNG fails. This deck is designed to mitigate dead turns as much as possible due to Iron Man insane Hand Size and his access to churn (self mill). Let's get into it.

Core Objective

TLDR: OPERATIVE SKILL + Mark V Helmet + Spider-Man

Iron Man will always stay in alter-ego in the first turn to try and get as much Tech upgrades on the field to push up his hero form hand size. Your objective while following Iron Man's is to try and get these cards on the field in the first deck cycle:

By the end of the first cycle you should have enough techs for a 5-6 hand size with the above pieces on the field. You then aim to get these cards on board to start wrecking thwart:

You thwart early game with his in kit stand and with Even the Odds. Once Operative Skill and Mark V Helmet is on the field and you can Aerial you will be blasting 2 thwart off all schemes every turn at the very minimum.

Advanced Jank Mechanics

No respectable deck builder would build a deck without throwing some nice jank combos in. After Thwarting 2 from each scheme with Mark V Helmet you play Spider-Man to stand Mark V Helmet to thwart for 2 from all schemes again and draw a card. You then attack with Spider-Man to kill him to draw a card from Web of Life and Destiny. Simple right? But there is more!!! You play Chance Encounter on side schemes before you start thwarting with your helmet and your basics. When you clear a side scheme you recur Spider-Man and play him again. On my best turn I played Spider-Man 4 TIMES!!!

If there is no thwart on side schemes then you can take it easier and use Spider-Man to stand Arc Reactor to ready again.

Final Thoughts

Iron Man identity cards lean heavily into damage output but with Operative Skill it allows him to thwart up there with the big boys and also in higher difficulty levels you tend to realize that all heroes must be able to cover all aspects of the game. What I mean by this is a Thwarter must be able to Thwart but also must be able to help in dealing damage. His kit allows him the flexibility to enter higher level game play.
