This deck was built for a randomizer assignment, paired with Ghost-Spider (Leadership).

The Idea Behind the Deck Magneto already comes with Magnetic Bubble, giving him Retaliate 1. That got me thinking: what if we simply added more bubbles? Instead of relying on healing, this deck focuses on preventing damage altogether while punishing enemies every time they attack.

The first priority is getting Forcefield Generator into play. I've played this deck six times, and in one of those games I got distracted by trying to bounce Nightcrawler every turn. The game barely progressed until I remembered what this deck is actually trying to do: don't take damage. Once the shields were online, everything else fell into place.

After that, your next priorities are Magneto's Helmet and Magneto's Cape. The Cape is especially strong, allowing Magneto to defend nearly every villain phase while readying himself almost every round. Even better, you can play Repurpose before readying to turn a depleted upgrade into a huge stat boost.

The interaction between Magnetic Bubble and Forcefield Generator is the heart of the deck. Both are Forced Interrupts, which means you choose which one prevents the damage. This lets you completely drain Forcefield Generator before sacrificing it to Repurpose, getting maximum value from every counter.

While you're defending, Dauntless, Electrostatic Armor, and Magnetic Bubble slowly wear the villain down. With all three in play, every attack against Magneto deals 3 retaliate damage before you even take your turn.

As the game progresses, continue building your board with your remaining upgrades. Electrostatic Armor is excellent throughout the game and eventually becomes another great target for Repurpose.

Side Note

This deck includes single copies of Moira MacTaggert and Leo Fitz. If you can play either of them early, they're well worth it. Otherwise, don't force them—they're simply nice value cards when you have resources to spare.
