EDIT: Remove 1 Assess the Situation to go to 40 cards, I forgot to remove it after some tests with the deck :)
Let your enemies crash into your Shield, taking 3 to 9 damage each time!
This deck revolves around some of the new cards like Cuts Both Ways (mostly), Excelsior and "I Can Do This All Day".
I included almost all retaliate-like abilities (except Energy Barrier) to please your inner porcupine. Good in solo and (obviously) even better with more players ;)
- Use "I Can Do This All Day", "I Can Do This All Day!" (Cap's ability) and Desperate Defense to stay ready and thwart/attack a lot.
- Get up to 5 DEF with Captain America's Shield, Defensive Conditioning and Defense Specialist.
- Use Cap's Shield, Cuts Both Ways and Dauntless to reach up to retaliate 3 (or up to retaliate 5 if you played multiple Cuts Both Ways at once).
- Don't forget you can play multiple defense events against one single attack so Cuts Both Ways should usually be the first thing you do no matter what ;) (Flow Like Water triggers each time!).
- Also use Electrostatic Armor, Flow Like Water and Excelsior to deal a ton of extra damage during the villain phase!
- Example of a turn: the Villain attacks your teammate ==> defend with Cuts Both Ways and Desperate Defense ==> deal 2 damage with Flow Like Water ==> take no damage with 7 DEF ==> deal 1 with Electrostatic Armor and 3 retaliate with Dauntless, Shield and Cuts Both Ways ==> defend for yourself with Shield Block ==> deal 1+1+3 damage ==> defend yourself against a 7hp minion with "I Can Do This All Day" ==> deal 1+1+3 damage + 2 damage with Excelsior ==> draw 3 cards with Change of Fortune and Unflappable ==> you're still ready with a few cards in hand for next phase!
- Jocasta gets you your powerful defense events (including Shield Block)
- Sadly, Super-Soldier Serums can't be used for Excelsior but Quincarrier can, and you can always recycle your DEFENSE events as .
- Use Defensive Conditioning and "Come Get Me, Bub!" to trigger Dauntless. "Come Get Me, Bub!" also triggers Change of Fortune next phase.
Adapting the deck:
- The exact number of copies for your events depends on the composition of your team :)
- There are only 12 cards above 2 cost. Doubles aren't that useful at the end, it wouldn't be a bad idea to remove Strength
- Assess the Situation to see more Cuts Both Ways, Defensive Training, Energy Barrier Enhanced Reflexes and Indomitable are all good optional picks.
Anyway, enjoy, have fun,
and don't forget to drop a like/fav, it's always appreciated :)
Is "Retaliate 9-ish" for the clickbait? Yes, but hopefully not that far from reality :p
