Gambit's Always Ready for a fight
This deck is built around taking full advantage of Ready for a Fight. Gambit is the perfect hero for this card, with his 3 natural defense and a very useful alter-ego action that helps threat management. Speaking of alter-ego, you will be spending a lot of time there. Each time you flip down, you can remove threat with your Thief extraordinaire ability, The Thieve's Guild, and Creole Charmer alter-ego actions. You can also heal yourself or allies with X-Mansion. Between Ready for a Fight and the confusion from Creole Charmer and Professor X, you can usually end your turn in Alter-ego without having to worry about losing to threat. Since Ready for a Fight requires a resource we are packing in a whopping 20 cards with resources.
Who's Coming with me?
The X-men are bringing the muscle. Armor, Colossus, and Polaris to provide tough status cards while you set up your perfect defense strategy. You've got Nightcrawler to help defend yourself and the table, of course no X-men deck is complete without the valuable Professor X, and finally, Northstar is a key ally here. Every time you use his ability to cancel boost cards, you can just heal him back up with X-Mansion on the following turn!
Brawling in the Bayou
Outside of the Ready for a Fight strategy, the game plan is pretty similar to your standard perfect defense deck. You've got Desperate Defense, Never Back Down, Natural Agility, Armored Vest, and Northstar to bolster your defense. Meanwhile, the enemies are taking damage from Gambit's Staff and "Stop Hitting Yourself". Gambit's Guild Armor, Unflappable, and Hard to Ignore provide you with payoffs for defending without taking damage. You can whittle down the enemy while building up charge counters to pay for your finishers like Charged Card and Royal Flush.
