I usually think Leadership decks are boring, but I read @ImpossibleGerman's review on Black Panther's page, and it inspired me to build a Black Panther Leadership deck. The plan is that the deck is full of expensive allies, but you can bring them out easily with The Golden City and Vibranium and use Ancestral Knowledge to recycle your resource cards. I played this deck against Project Wideawake and I actually had a lot of fun - in fact, it was the most fun I've had with a Leadership deck in a long time.
How to play this deck:
- Because you have so many allies, I had a lot of success with using Black Panther to defend rather than chump blocking whenever possible, not only because your high number of allies will mean you won't lose tempo from having Black Panther exhausted, but also because then you can take advantage of your Retaliate 1 and your Vibranium Suit (which is so satisfying to use). This was especially fortunate because the scenario I chose to play this deck against happened to be Project Wideawake, where you do NOT want to chump block.
- Flip to alter ego frequently to take advantage of The Golden City. Make the Call and Get Ready aren't restricted to hero form, so you should always be able to use the cards you draw.
Notes on card choices:
- Nick Fury is in here because although it seems like a lot of people are tired of using him, I actually haven't used him that much yet. Turns out, if you can afford him easily (like Black Panther can), he's pretty good.
- Quincarrier and Call for Aid usually seemed unnecessary; Quincarrier because I had enough resources that I didn't need to sacrifice tempo to bring it out, and Call for Aid because playing it would just discard the resource cards and Wakanda Forever!s from my deck that I was counting on drawing. I'll probably swap them out for something else but not sure what yet (recommendations are welcome).
- Last Stand is in here just because I've never played it before and because there are so many allies that I thought I would need a way to clear out an ally slot. I never ended up playing it in any of the three games I've played with this deck, and also, it turns out clearing out ally slots via consequential damage was not hard at all. I'll probably swap it out for something else as well but again not sure what yet.
