Miles is king. He's a strong hero with a strong, low-cost kit (who is handicapped, but not debilitated by, the presence of Steady/Stalwart). Usually, when I play Miles, his own cards are in competition with the aspect cards.
But No Longer!
This all-basic deck flexes hard into card draw and economy, ensuring that you can play whatever Identity-Specific event you have, dig for the one you need, and always hit the kicker.
I'll be bringing this deck to MC/DC '26 along with these others:
- Flying Fortress - Falcon Protection
- Yellow is the New Black - Nick Fury Justice
Economics 101
- Miles has a low-to-the ground kit, and requires very little setup. He's a mostly-event-based hero with his powerful upgrades built into his hero card! He's ready to go turn 1, but benefits from resources on the board to play his events and hit the kickers
- All basic means The Power in All of Us is a great card that almost always is a double for you.
- play Moon Girl or Nick Fury for extra card draw. Use Champions Mobile Bunker to cycle cards
- The Enhanced cards (Enhanced Physique, Enhanced Awareness, Enhanced Reflexes) are low-priority, but are great to put on the table because they (1) thin your deck so you see more of Mile's awesome events and (2) pay for those events, hitting the kickers
- Swing In wants a Mental resource, provided by Enhanced Awareness
- Web-Shot wants an Energy resource, provided by Enhanced Reflexes
- Double Life wants a Physical resource, provided by Enhanced Physique (though this is lower priority)
- Web-Shooter can pay the kickers on any of these, and cost one less to boot
- once you have some of these on the table, you can use them to pay for other resource generators. It's the day-trading of Marvel Champions
- you've also got the world-wide Web of Life and Destiny, drawing you a card when web warriors leave play. Otto can ready a Web-Shooter and draw an extra card. Gwen draws 2 cards when she leaves play (one being your identity-specific event).
- with the rainbow of resources at your disposal, you can easily pay the tax of pesky attachments, and pay to play Peter, who readies you up thrice... it's free real estate.
- so play tempo, stun and confuse, and invest in the future with what's left over. Use allies to help keep threat low, and to supplement damage/blocks. Win.
Cut For Time (or deck space)
- Professor X confuses, thwarts, and blocks. He's good, and can help you hit the Arachnobatics Shangri-la of 8 damage if you don't have a Spider Camouflage trigger on hand. But he doesn't draw cards.
- other spiders like Hobie and Madame Web who have good utility, but I didn't lean into the Web of Life and Destiny here
- because this is all-basic, you could flex into an aspect easily at the cost of more deck space.
And that's the deck! I've beaten Expert Magneto reliably with it, but haven't taken it up against Master Mold or Thanos, who invalidate Miles' minigame. Hope you enjoy, and I'll see some of you at MC/DC '26!
Going hard in the paint on those “Enhanced” upgrades, Coach. I love it!
