This deck was built for a randomizer assignment, paired with Magneto (Protection).
The Idea Behind the Deck
While browsing through the Leadership cards, nothing immediately caught my attention. I had already decided I didn't want to build another "standard" Web-Warrior bounce deck. Then I came across Spider-Man 2099, and instantly knew I wanted to build around him.
After about six games, I was pleasantly surprised. The deck feels different depending on the villain and your opening hand, so don't be afraid to adapt your game plan as the game unfolds.
The first priority is getting Spider-Man 2099 into play. Once he's joined by Web of Life and Destiny, the engine comes online. From there, you'll want to keep him around with First Aid, Inspired, and Reinforced Suit, allowing you to trigger his ability over and over again.
The other two Spider-Man allies each bring something unique to the table.
Spider-Man (Peter Parker) adds flexibility by readying another Web-Warrior. That can be one of your allies or Ghost-Spider herself, potentially giving you another Interrupt or Response during the round.
Spider-Man (Hobie Brown) is your primary bounce target. Besides helping with threat removal, every time Spider-Man 2099 returns him to your hand you'll deal damage equal to the boost icons on the top three cards of the encounter deck.
Ready for Action helps keep your key allies around. If Spider-UK is in play (see the side note below), he's usually the best target. Otherwise, don't hesitate to use it on Spider-Man 2099 to prevent consequential damage and keep your engine running.
Ghost-Spider loves having George Stacy and her Web-Bracelet online, so Face the Past helps speed up your setup. Her nemesis minion isn't particularly threatening, making it an easy trade for three extra cards and another activation.
Make the Call gives you even more access to your Spider-Man allies. In multiplayer it becomes even stronger, letting you recruit allies from another player's discard pile. If you're planning to play this deck with friends, consider asking them to include a few Web-Warrior allies—you'll happily borrow them later.
Side Note
When paired with my Magneto (Protection) deck (Can't Thouch This), I included Spider-UK in the Protection deck. Thanks to Make the Call, Ghost-Spider can still recruit him from Magneto's discard pile. Spider-UK is another fantastic ally. He makes an excellent defender against minions.
In the end, this deck offers a different take on Ghost-Spider Leadership. Instead of relying on the usual Web-Warrior swarm, it revolves around Spider-Man 2099 and repeatedly reusing your Spider-Man allies for value. Every game feels a little different, and that's exactly what makes this deck so much fun to play.
