Welcome to the jungle, we got fun and games
We got everything you want, honey, we know the names
We are the people that can find whatever you may need
If you got the money, honey, we got your disease

Star-Lord has the potential to pay for Suit Up, Wolverine from Jubilee (by Cameo), and Sidekick on turn-1, even with the two card discard from Cameo.
The way the math works is that Star-Lord has a starting handsize of 6 in Alter-Ego. He has a setup ability to find an Element Gun, which would bring him to 7 cards, but Cameo has the setup ability to put an identity-specific ally from outside the game into your deck and then has you discard 2 cards of your choice. So, now we’re down to 5 cards. If you play Suit Up, even without a double resource, it will cost you 3 cards (2 plus the card itself) and get you 2 back (ally + attach upgrade). So, now we have 4 cards: Sidekick and Wolverine from Suit Up, plus 2 random cards that we don’t care about right now. Use 1 plus Star-Lord’s “What Could Go Wrong?” ability to play Wolverine, and use the other to play Sidekick onto him. It works so well that I would suggest throwing away everything in the mulligan that is not Suit Up, including double resources. Those are for later. We want max odds of getting a turn-1 Sidekicked Wolverine, and we don’t need the doubles to get there. A draw odds calculator shows a roughly 68% chance to get Suit Up with a full mulligan. You don’t want anything less. In the words of Star-Lord himself, “You gotta risk it to get the biscuit.”
(It’s worth noting that a turn-2 Wolverine is not the end of the world. But, the goal is to go for it right out of the gate.)

From there, you have a classic strong ally package with the goal of drawing Blaze of Glory and Side-by-Side. This is where the double resources are very handy. Use Wolverine to hit hard while Star-Lord likely thwarts, and then flip down to save the extra damage from Blaze of Glory, which is perfect because Wolverine heals when you flip.

The upgrades are specifically chosen to make Wolverine virtually unstoppable. He has built-in piercing. Laser Blaster gives him overkill (and +1 ATK). And, just in case there’s retaliate anywhere, Sidearm gives him ranged. It’s also worth pointing out that Sidekick itself gives +2 hitpoints, which really helps with the math of Wolverine’s double consequential damage on ATK and his heal 3 on a flip down. There’s also the potential to heal him (and yourself) with a basic REC and with one of the options on Side-by-Side.
————————————————————————
Phoenix is here for a ready and a small heal, particularly for a Blaze of Glory turn. But, she’s also nice on a regularly buffed Wolverine. Knowhere is here because Star-Lord’s static ability makes every ally immediately become a Guardian as they enter play, which takes effect before Knowhere’s Response. So, once it’s out, every ally played in hero form draws a card (well, one ally a turn, anyway).
————————————————————————
There are other good cards that were not included because of deck-space. This is one where we really want to keep it to 40 cards to maximize the odds of drawing Suit Up as early as possible and to draw Blaze of Glory and Side-by-Side as often as possible.
