This is my second attempt at building a deck for PvP, and the first one I've tried after actually playing PvP. I think it works best in 2v2, but is still a solid deck for 1v1 or co-op play.
Objective #1 with this deck, every game, is to get Technovirus Purge into play and completing it. That will unlock your Psionic trait, improving your stats for Gunboat Diplomacy, unlocking playing Psychic Manipulation, and allowing Team-Building Exercise to discount 18 of the cards in the deck.
Why Gunboat Diplomacy? Well, PvP tends to move fast. You want to put damage on the leader quickly, but I've found myself not paying as much attention to schemes as I do so. Gunboat lets do both at the same time. Cable's events will allow him to focus down bigger numbers of HP and Threat, especially with a lot of the economy built into this deck.
As for player side schemes, I was aiming for 2v2 benefits, so all 3 of of the other side schemes should provide a bonus to most any partner's deck.
Your best team for Gunboat is some combination of Psionic Cable, Pete Wisdom or Professor X. although most other combos will still yield decent results. Adding a couple of Mission Training cards would provide a little better results, but may require a bit too much setup for PvP games.
Forced Amnesia is a fun bonus in PvP, especially if your opponent chooses the second stage encounter card that adds side schemes, as it allows you to remove one of the more problematic ones from that equation.
