I play a lot of Psylocke. She's my favorite hero in the game. (...for now????? I dunno, that Shuri reveal is lookin real spicy!) But after over 100 games with her, I still don't actually play her signature upgrades very much. There is one in particular that I can't recall if I've ever even played once, until now. This deck revolves around making that card, Weapons Training, good.

Making a Bad Card Good

For 2 cost, Weapons Training gives you retaliate, and you can discard it to ready your weapons. This gives you 2 resources back, in the form of Psi-weapon resources. Calling it a "bad" card is unfair. I'm just never compelled to play it over any of my other cards. Retaliate is something I don't usually care about with her, and while banking resources to get more in the future is nice, the 2 cost upfront is pretty high. But then I realized something. This card readies EACH weapon upgrade you control, not just the Psi-weapons!

Psimatar Master

Basic combo: With Weapons Training and Psimitar out, play any psionic card, exhausting both psi weapons to pay for it, and exhausting Psimitar to deal 2 damage. Since this is an attack, it triggers Weapons Training, readying your 3 weapons. Play a second Psionic card to do another 2 damage on the same turn.

You can then flip down to alter ego, and use Mutant Education to put Weapons Training back in your deck, and get it back in play on the same turn with Training Regimen. This way, by flipping each turn, you can double dip on Psimitar every other turn!

2 extra damage here and there might not seem like a lot, but remember, this is just free, additional damage. It adds up over the course of the game. There is enough psionic cards in this deck that you will be using Psimitar every turn.

Keep in mind that Psimitar is restricted, as are her Psi-Katanas (but not the Knife side!). I've included 2 copies of Side Holster so that you never have to discard Psimitar when 2 katanas are out.

Keep you Blade Sharp

My favorite psionic card to trigger Psimitar is Mental Detection. If you play this with both blades out, you draw 2 cards. So if you discard 2 cards to play it, and draw 2 back, it's equivalent to being a zero cost event that removes 1 threat and now does 2 damage. You can consider it card cycling, but when you use Psi-weapons, TBE or X-Gene to pay for it, it's more like actual card draw. This card is super flexible. You get 1, 3, or 5 threat removal and some card draw, which helps enable your bigger plays. This is often the first card after Weapons Training that I prioritize cycling back in the deck with Mutant Education.

Other easy psionic cards to play are Telekinesis and Telepathy. They are cheap, and can be activated later by using your Psi-Knives. These aren't a priority, but can be very good at the right time. Not much else to say there.

There's 3 side schemes here because Psylocke can easily clear them, even in aggression. They also fuel X-Bunker, which is a fantastic card for Betsy. I tend to flip every turn with this deck, so this is like a cheaper, better, Avengers Mansion.

You may sometimes want to play her other skill upgrades too, especially Martial Arts Training. This deck lacks defenses, relying mostly on flipping to AE to heal with X-Mansion. The extra +1 Def can be helpful to stay alive.

With Martial Prowess, TBE, and X-Gene out, you have a ton of extra resource to play multiple Psionic events late game. Use the combo of Keep Up the Pressure + Flurry of Blades for an easy 9 damage (11 with Psimitar) to finish things off!

If the villain has Stalwart or Retaliate, swap out the Psychic Assaults for Psi-Bow Attacks.

This is a big combo deck. It builds out quite wide, and late game you will be playing tons of cards, activating cards on the table, exhausting, unexhausting, drawing cards etc. If that sounds as fun to you as it was for me, give it a shot and let me know what you think!

I love it! I keep waiting for new weapons to come out that would warrant the extra readying. Dare I hope to one day have four weapons readied(knife/katana plus holster)?

@Septuseth Thanks. Yeah, I would love new weapons that she could do use! At least she has Psimitar. I never used to run it on her since you need the sidearm, but its so worth it. The 2 damage might not sound like a lot, but its just enough to make Weapons Training feel really good to play

Psylocke Aggression is so great. Psimitar is great with her, love the combo of readying it again!
