Fear not my children. It’s me, your savior: Marvel Jesus, healer of (X-)Men.
I spent way too many hours iterating and testing this deck. But it was time well spent as I’m pretty happy with the result. The deck is stupid in so many ways. It’s stupid fun to play. It’s stupid good. And mostly it’s just a stupid idea.
Serve and Protect is a card that frustrated me for a long time. On the surface, it exhausts two characters, needs to be in your hand when an advance hits (in solo anyway) and is pretty expensive at 3ER. Why would anyone ever play this card? When you have 8 acceleration tokens on the main scheme, it turns out this is a pretty useful card.
The main idea of the deck is to die deliberately and repeatedly to build up acceleration tokens on the main scheme. Don’t go hog wild right away though. You want to be sure to get down It Ain't Over... to give yourself a bit of breathing room on the main scheme and ideally an Energy Barrier to prevent yourself from getting sniped in alter ego.
Once you have a solid set of tokens down, use Mutant Education to return whatever is useful to solve problems on the board. Because Deadpool can tutor any event from his deck, this could be "Yoo-Hoo!" for a big thwart or Maximum Effort and This Card is Fire to deal with minions or advance the win condition. But if you’re looking for a really good time, I suggest you pull Exhausting Personality. After flipping to hero and playing this card, you’re drawing a fistful of cards to slap the villain silly. The highest I got in one of my practice games was 12 tokens and 12 cards drawn. Get dumpstered bad guys.
Life is more fun with friends, so we brought along some key allies that help us manage any spikes in threat as we build out our acceleration army. Rogue touches Deadpool for an added 2 thwart, pinging the energy barrier as needed. She can also touch Rockslide for 3 attack as you look to close out the game.
Rogue is great, but Cable is the real hero in this deck. With all those acceleration tokens, Cable quickly gets up to a 4/5/3 stat line, and combined with Rogue, can easily manage any miscues when you don’t draw into a Serve and Protect (I’ll get to that in a second).
Med Team is mostly reserved for keeping my boo Cable on the board, but don’t be afraid to use it on Deadpool for some added health to boost his events. Between Med Team, X-Mansion and the Toughs added from Serve and Protect, all of our allies should stick around for a while.
As you can imagine, not drawing a Serve and Protect can cause things to spiral pretty quickly. Enter Defensive Training. I know I know, who plays this garbage card? This guy does. Actually, this card is pretty important to the overall strategy as it helps you recur a Serve and Protect when you go to Alter Ego (which is happening a lot, obviously). While it’s not a major priority early game, I recommend getting it down mid-game to save your hide late-game.
Why did I wait this long to post this deck? Mostly procrastination and a bad case of OCD as I changed the deck many times in testing. The release of Magneto introduced a card that really ties the room together. Deadpool loves Face the Past. Butler must be the biggest nothing burger nemesis minion in the game. With only 3 health and 1 damage, feel free to leave him on the board for a couple of turns while you build out. Or just hit him with a katana and an Energy Barrier. The card draw really helps you get set up early as the deck does require a couple of key pieces.
And that's it! Victory in just 3 easy steps! It might be more than 3 steps, and require a high degree of risk, but what could go wrong?! Hope you enjoy!

Nov 16, 2024This is hands down the best use of Serve and Protect in the entire game!! Giving it a use in solo play is so exciting. Having seen the deck run, I can attest to its innovation and strength. Marvel Jesus indeed!! |

Nov 23, 2024Cool deck, love Deadpool protection and Serve and Protect, the combo looks awesome |
Dec 04, 2024good deck, i gave it a go. the only part of the right up i was curious about was that is if you ping energy barrier with rogue touching Deadpool then she wouldn't get that 2 thwart added because the cost of adding the stats is dealing that damage as a cost, you still get the 1 damage from it though. |

Hi there! The wording on Rogue is "deals damage" which is not the same as "take damage". Meaning you can deal the damage to Deadpool and block it with energy barrier and still get the effect. |
