“You killed those, sugah. Now you get me.”

If you haven’t watched it yet, you should definitely watch X-Men ‘97.

With the release of Iceman’s pack comes several cards that need an upgrade out to make them shine. Time to reach out and touch somebody.

This deck is very simple to pilot but plenty strong. Most often you’ll put Touched on the enemy you like the least and let it rip. In multiplayer you are unstoppable with the added ability to become Stalwart.

Combos

  • Glob and Marrow’s responses aren’t attacks, so they get around guard. Also, Glob.
  • Shark-Girl will always be a 3 atk on whoever has Touched on. That's plenty strong enough without needing to stack upgrades for 3er
  • Take That! can be a decent splash of damage on the villain if they’re Touched, or a big overkill card on a minion. It does have anti synergy Superpower Adaptation so you won’t often pull it. However, it has come in useful to grab it and carry it over to the next round.
  • Superpower Adaptation has targets for whichever ally you have out. I love the Mutant Education tech to cycle your strong cards in. If you’re super lucky with Remy next to you and a basic ally you can snag Beauty and the Thief
  • Goldballs is an absolute unit in general, but he gets a bonus synergy with Rogue as he can help set up Superpower Adaptation, discarding cards for you to recur them.
  • Aggression Rogue gets to really flex, being a (potential) 3/4/2 Hero depending on who has Touched on + Rogue's Jacket + Combat Training. Her thwart really does heavy lifting in solo and the combo of Utopia and putting an ally out is a super simple 9 damage if you have Touched on an enemy (basic of 4 + Utopia ready for 4 + whatever the ally does which is at least 1)

Cards considered

  • Pitchback is really good but it has a 95% success rate to draw into my hand when I don't have an ally available. On the flip side, Superpower Adaptation grabbing this feels fantastic, and you’ll be ready to use it being aerial. I’d swap Press the Advantage for it if you wanna sub it in
  • Surprise Move was heavily considered, especially with the boosted attack. I had two issues with it, personally. Superpower Adaptation has anti synergy unless you can quickly Energy Transfer, and is only worthwhile if you kill the enemy. That part is not the issue (most likely a 6 atk after all) the issue is losing Touched on the defeated enemy as it will go away until the next phase. Only getting one action to put on Touched makes this harder to play, and I would rather set up One by One than a conditional ready. I can give Touched to the villain, still get the big basic, the kicker for ObO, and then keep Touched out.
  • Honed Technique in this economy? It’s too expensive for Rogue, imho. If you wanted to lean into it (a 10 damage Take That! is tasty) I’d also recommend finding space for No Quarter

Beauty and the Thief is the 41st card (technically 42nd since Touched counts for deck size) but you could cut it. For me, that card is worth it for the artwork alone and crazy value when you can use it.

This deck was tested against Expert Klaw, En Sabah Nur, and Magneto with recommended mods and cleared each one, performing very well in solo. Since it's Rogue it only gets better in Multiplayer.

Until next time. Good night, sugah rogue-xmen.png

Really nice deck, I played it yesterday in a 3-player match. I swapped out Marrow because he is not an X-Man and has anti-synergies with Utopia. Next time, I will try Pitchback, because in multiplayer you have a 99% chance that there is an ally on the board :-)

absolutely love rogue in aggression. Glob in particular does a lot for her, and i think it's correct to only go 2 Take That! because it's still quite situational when she can play it (you don't always want to defeat the minion with it attached cos you want to still have overkill on everything else)
