This is was my official deck for Solo Champions League Season 17, Round 1

I was initially working with a Honed Technique build, but my new alliance-mate KakitaJamie suggested the Godslayer + Combat Training + Soaring Acrobatics combo and that felt pretty good. Many practice games and a fairly bad win/loss ratio later I tackled my official games

  • Game 1: 5 turn win, 1 threat left on the main scheme, 10 health on the hero side. Drew Now or Never on my start of game Foul Play and managed to have Ironheart out as an extra ally by the end of turn 1 to save Spectrum's T2 activation. Madame Masque showed up before I advanced the Hood to stage 2 and both instances of Foul Play whiffed.
  • Game 2: 6 turn win, clean board, 15 health on the hero side. Starting with Sinister Assault is by far the most challenging of the three setups so I was very thankful to have the setup foul play miss. I got hit with an early Established Dominance, but had confused the Hood the previous turn. I used Blade and Spider-Miles to help get the main scheme down to 1 after clearing Established Dominance so that I was protected from Doc Oc's Incite 2 if he showed up, which he didn't. Smooth sailing after dealing with all of that
  • Game 3: 5 turn win, clean board, 13 health on the hero side. The setup Foul Play pulled Caught Off Guard so I decided not to play any upgrades or supports, but regretted it mildly since it instead surged into Running Interference, which was more costly to clear than to have just played my T1 Ready to Rumble and have lost it to Clear the Area. Had to negotiate a mid-game Media Coverage but was protected by confuse when I flipped down and drew my obligation as my encounter card so I managed to avoid being activated against in Alter-Ego in all three games

Tips:

  • Despite the reasonably fast rounds, I played conservatively overall, always favouring getting allies and other problem solutions down over pushing damage until the end game
  • Blade did so much work in game 2. The fact that he doesn't take consequential also means that against low-attack villains, you have a pretty good chance of him surviving after blocking, which he did in games 2 and 3.
  • Plan B did some work in some of my practice games, but not in any of the official games. I also ended up never using Ready to Rumble. Other than that, every other card in the deck was played in at least one of the games.
