Playthroughs:

Ever thought to your self, “I want to like Dr. Strange, but he’s just not strong enough”? Just make Dr. Strange a ‘Pool, and now he can finally be strong enough to really break the game.

Resolve a couple of invocations, then use Mulligan to draw a new hand.

Use Get Rage-y to ready Wong so you can get to the right invocation.

Stick-To-Itiveness will give you another ready to play another invocation.

Machine Man will let you use up any extra resources to get a good activation.

Enjoy a Dr. Strange who breaks a game even more.

Veey cool. I havent seen this combo posted anywhere yet. Mulligan with the invocation deck is just a crazy busted idea.

Hope this gets some notice on the main page.

@teamcanadahockey2002 thank you so much! It’s definitely been fun playing it and having friends play it in a how many things can you do in one turn kind of way :)

You forgot cosmo :P cuz why not get more page turns!

@Pots Sadly Cosmo has been nerfed with the recent rules update.

@Pots @teamcanadahockey2002 oh man, I might just house rule a run with Cosmo just to see how absolutely ridiculous it’d be. :)

I mean it's not really nerfing so much as "clarifying" how it always was. The whole Cosmo working on Strange's Invocation deck just came from people reading what they wanted into the card not the card's intent or any real logic...

Finally got to play this, and good Lord what absolute nonsense! I played Expert Taskmaster, and he never hit me once. He barely even attacked. I had so many cards in my hand at a few points that I wasn't even looking at them lol. Just dumping them to pay costs. I was summoning 2-3 allies per turn just discarding the rest lol

Completely, hilariously broken!

@takabrash glad it went well. It’s definitely weird to draw half your deck for sure :)

@Pots so it turns out that Cosmo still works well because Astral Projection let’s you look at the top of the encounter deck. So while Cosmo doesn’t help you cycle the invocation deck, Cosmo definitely can still ping damage or do precise thwarting.

@Erathis Cosmo was definitely nerfed. Sure it was a clarification but because it was worded poorly and not "people reading what they wanted". The actual card says "a deck" so that meant any deck on the table pertaining to this game. Mine, yours, invocation, side scheme deck, infinity gauntlet deck, encounter, etc.

Now Cosmo can only target 2 types of decks. That's a nerf.

but I digress. This deck looks super fun even without Cosmo :)

@Erathis the game rules says that any card text trumps the rules. So no, it's not reading what you want. It's reading the text, creating scenarios in your head is reading what you want. That being said, Go for Champions has also been errata'ed it's a matter of time until they start doing it to Pool cards as well.

You can't mulligan if you played an invocation cause that's playing a card.

Apr 29, 2024 salsatheone · 2

Oh no wait, you mean using the special. Ok, now I see it.

@salsatheone, yeah! Just to add clarity for others, invocations are only ever resolved, never played, which is convenient for Mulligan. Now, if you play Master of the Mystic Arts, then you have played a card to resolve an invocation, but at least using Spell Mastery doesn’t count as playing a card (same for readying through Cloak of Levitation or Stick-To-Itiveness).
