This is a response to a Cerebro Deck of the Week from the X-Mansion Discord Server — Monday, June 26th, which was Ironheart in Protection with Defensive Stance. I had already been formulating this deck so I knew that I had a home for this card.

Warning! This is not a very effective deck as compared to other Iroheart options. Riri doesn't want to waste her time on an upgrade-heavy protection build; she wants to collect progress counters and upgrade her suit. But here we are.

It started with me wanting to build a deck around Fighting Fit and Dauntless and then looking through the heroes to see who all had upgrades in their kit to get their HP above their starting value. After noticing that NelsonAllOver had done a similar build-around for Iron man, I looked at Ironheart since she has Photon Blasters and Propulsion Jets. Throw Endurance and a Symbiote Suit onto the pile and you are now looking at bumping that HP max way up there. Plus she has a base Defense of 3 so a great candidate for a deck that wants to block while keeping HP high.

Fighting Fit---no longer part of this build---is a terrible card unless you are going for a solo rush strategy using protection (as NelsonAllOver was). Only in that narrow situation do you really want to pull that card our of your box. Damage directed only at the villain doesn't help you keep things under control in the early game and the additional health constraint makes it even harder to use.

This deck isn't designed to be especially fast so Fighting Fit was pitched. Instead we leaned into Dauntless and made it a porcupine deck with a lot of setup: Dauntless, Energy Barrier, Flow Like Water and Electrostatic Armor.

Give this deck enough time and it starts to really hurt the villain to attack you, but at that point you're probably already a Mark 3 Ironheart and have control over the game anyway. But do not let that stop you from getting the satisfying full porcupine kit out. If you get your kicks out of playing decks that play away from your hero's strengths, give this one a go.
