Smash and Grab

Teddy's patterned after the big green guy, but the Hulk only ever learned to smash. Hulkling learned to smash and to go grab something else to smash with. This deck leans all the way into Hulk Shape and turns Teddy into a hero who pings, swings, and tutors a villain into the ground with almost no setup.

Smash...

The whole engine runs on Hulk Shape. It gives you a 3 ATK and, more importantly, a Hero Response that pings 2 damage every time you play an event. Use cheap events, that response basically never stops firing. The basic turn:

Play any cheap event (Precision Strike, Skilled Strike, First Aid, etc.) → exhaust Hulk Shape for 2. Play Shapeshifter Strike → 5 damage, and ready your Shapeshift upgrade. Shapeshifter Strike is itself an event, so playing it triggers Hulk Shape again, and it just got readied. So exhaust it for another 2.

That's 9 damage off two cards, before you've even thrown a basic attack with your buffed fists.

...and Grab

A one-shot combo is fine. A combo you can run again next turn is what makes Hulkling sing. That's the grab half:

Aggressive Stance (discard it when a minion engages you) and Wiccan (grabs any signature event when played) both tutor Shapeshifter Strike right back into your hand. Altman Residence shuffles Shapeshifter Strike (or Wiccan!) out of your discard and back into your deck, so those tutors always have a target waiting.

Smash it, grab it, shuffle it back, run it again.

Spoiling for a Triple

If there's an MVP, it's Spoiling for a Fight. One card pulls three jobs at once:

It's an event → Hulk Shape pings for 2 (not an attack, so direct it to the villain). It drops a minion into play engaged with you → Aggressive Stance fires, grab another Shapeshifter Strike. It readies your hero → swing again (and if the minion doesn't have guard, go at the villain again).

Don't waste your stats

Just take the hits from the villains. There are ample places to heal: First Aid, Precision Strike, and Altman Residence. Don't defend the villain phase. Just take the hits. If you ever need to go on a healing spree, and it's urgent, get your Armored Shape, heal for a bit, then flip back down to get your Hulk Shape and go again. But honestly, no one is lasting the amount of damage you're dishing.

Thanks, @boomguy! It was great to get to play it with you on some games! We should pair it with your Cat in the Crossfire and see how quickly we can end 4p games!

@Castlefrank47 and @zimmerza, thanks so much!!

@marktry I wouldn’t say never just because I wouldn’t want anyone to feel like they shouldn’t if their board state needs something different. However, yeah, with this deck, I’m in Hulk shape for most of the time. If healing becomes sparse, I’ll switch to Armored Shape, but that’s all.
