Deck Overview:
|
|
Wonder Man is a very unique hero. I'm playing him in the current environment and making good use of the Thor ally. Thor and Wonder Man both utilize new events very well, and this deck takes advantage of that!
What do I want out of this deck?
-
Make use of Wonder Man's ability to add any event with a resource
- Since it isn't aspect locked, I want to have unique combos between cards of different aspects.
-
Make use of the Thor ally
- In my opinion Thor is an underwhelming ally in the legacy environment. Since I'm playing in current though, I want to make him work and actually be strong.
-
Current environment:
- I've been having a lot of fun with the current environment. I've seen a lot of negativity around it, though. Hopefully this list can inspire you to give it a shot.
Wonder Man's ATK Loop
Wonder Man doesn't want to attack often. If he attacks the forced response on his identity causes you to discard all the cards tucked under Ionic Physiology. Since Ionic Physiology increases your attack stat, you want to somehow make use of it. The ideal pattern is to use your THW to keep the main scheme in check while you build up your ATK. Play cards that benefit from having high ATK, then use your basic attack. That way you get the maximum value. After you use your ATK, quickly build up your ATK and heal up with Ionic Physiology. Then repeat.
Avoid Damage And Tuck
The basic combo revolves around Thor. He takes 2 consequential for attacking, and for thwarting you get a minion. Both are heavy prices. So I mean to get around that. Iron Lad can exhaust an ally to add ;their matching power to his. That way you can add Thor's THW to Iron Lads and get around the problem. There are also events that allow you to do that. Stronger Together is a fun new card that reduces damage based on your DEF. Lucky for us Wonder Man has 2 DEF which is exactly how much consequential damage Thor takes for attacking. Since it's an event with an resource you also get to tuck it under Ionic Physiology to heal 1 and increase your ATK. Once your ATK is high you can make good use of Unified Strike, which also tucks. Lead from the Front increases the stats of all your characters and since they are sharing them, it's especially good.
The deck is still functional without playing the Thor. You can use these tricks with any allies or just focus on the events and your identity specific cards. I had a lot of fun playing this deck, hopefully you do too!

I love seeing more people try out CE1.7 deck builds. I also believe that leadership is a strong choice for Wonder Man. This looks like a fun deck.
