Simon Williams is an actor's actor. He's been working in this town for years. You don't remember him in the long running X-Men movie franchise? Man, pay attention next time!
He's using all the connections he made through those movies to bring you this deck, where he's running all four of the mutant Alliance events! Yes, even Combine Forces! Is Combine Forces good? Not really! But when you're facing down a Zola's Mutate with 10 HP and a tough...maybe it is good!
This is a multiplayer focused deck, which makes Combine Forces and Serve and Protect much more consistent. Combine, Mutant Mayhem, and Gunboat Diplomacy all have Energy resource icons, so they are easily recurrable with Signature Sunglasses and Wonder Fans. Some individual card interactions to point out:
- Rogue can double up on Gunboat Diplomacy, touching another X-ally before playing it.
- Hope Summers can grab from among your six Superpower cards - don't forget that "What Are You" is also a Superpower.
- Utopia allows you to use the same X-ally for multiple Alliances on the same turn - try to always keep the Avengers Compound occupied!
- Unified Strike is great for Rogue in particular, or for any ally you want to keep around while you are waiting to play your alliances (which won't be long with Wonder Man!)
- Warpath allows you to Mutant Mayhem or Gunboat in the villain phase - incredibly fun!
- You want to avoid chumping as much as possible to keep your alliances online, but health is also literally a resource for Wonder Man. So Defensive Conditioning, Nightcrawler, and constant flipping will help keep you alive here.
(I also want to shout out Sparticuse's Wonder Man deck that utilizes 3 of the 4 alliance events, but with a very different build!)
This is such a clever deck. And so on brand! (Just a shame we can’t get Scott in here.)
