Notes by Leo's dad

This is the first deck Leo (7 years old) built, after picking out Ultron/Power Drain for an opponent and knowing that I would play Ant-Man Leadership. He wasn't patient enough for me to look for a Hawkeye Aggression deck on this site, so he started separating the Aggression cards from the Spider-Woman deck I'd just played into piles to keep and to reject. I then started handing him the stacks of Basic and Aggression cards to fill out his deck, drawing attention to some cards, not all of which he chose. At the end I encouraged him to get close to 40, and suggested that a Hawkeye deck really should have Endurance, and he readily agreed once I reminded him what it does and how many hit points Hawkeye has.

The deck took a while to get going, as he did more switching to alter-ego than we wanted, because his allies kept turning into drones. There were more things to think about with this deck than he's used to, and he was a bit vexed with the size of his tableau--I had to remind him that his Helicarrier was still on the table a few times in the late game. We stayed well on top of Ultron till a couple of bad beats on the villain's turn before we were going to kill him. I ended up dying after blocking for him (I thought I'd take the risk as Leo had more damage potential, Ultron was juuuuust beatable by a great turn from either one of us, and we were still on stage 2 of the scheme). Then it was a bit of a comedy getting Ultron down to zero--maybe the quiver will find a Vibranium arrow, that would make the difference! Nope. He went through a few plans to figure out the maximum damage with what he had on the table and in his hand, and the last bit was laying down Hulk and having him attack, taking Ultron down to 1 hit point--and while looking at the list now it's not surprising that the top card had a resource, it sure felt like a letdown at the time. Leo ended his turn in alter-ego form, went patiently through the villain phase (where the scheme flipped to stage 3), and finished Ultron off. He was a bit spooked by my demise, even though we've had our share of losses.

Next game he'll be playing Black Widow Justice and I'll try to figure out Ms. Marvel Aggression against Klaw.

Since it was his first effort at deck building, I offered to make him an account on this site and post his deck, since I'd gotten decks for him from here in the past. He seemed excited by the idea, and I'm sure he'd love any comments you'd care to give him about his deck, or advice for future deckbuilding.

Hey Leo nice deck! Congrats on beating Ultron, he's a tough one. The one change I would suggest to your list is adding Relentless Assault if you plan on attacking Ultron again, since you know you'll have minions to defeat. It can also end up damaging Ultron itself if you pay using .

Have fun!!

Good job taking down Ultron. I’m curious if piercing strike worked well for you? I like the chase them down here vs ultron and you should have it to play a bunch. One suggestion I would have is to add honorary avenger so you can get the most mileage possible out of she hulk’s ability.

Great job on your first deck build. Look forward to what else you build.

Also good job being a good dad dad.

Only change I'd make would be swapping the Get Over Here! 's for Relentless Assault. But I love RA! So that's just me.
