This deck utilizes many ways for Magneto to get tough, in synergistic ways, so he can use Taunt for more card draw.
Here are the ways Magneto can get tough:
-Polaris: She can give it to herself, but it's better on Magneto in case he wants to use Taunt
-"Come Get Me, Bub!": This will allow you to heal and get a tough status card. It does summon a minion, though. It may not be that bad because you could potentially Taunt and then use Metal Shards on the minion to get another tough status. Alternatively, this card will help those awkward turns when you have a Wrapped in Metal, but no minion.
-Metal Shards: Kill a minion or a villain stage and get tough. It can sometimes be overkill/inefficient. That said, Magneto is a pretty rich/efficient hero. So, it's not a big deal.
-Hidden Base: This can help you get a tough on a flip down. You should easily be able to flip down on turns where you use Professor X, Gambit or if you have Ready for a Fight in play, without having to worry about an Advance.
That is 9 potential tough status cards that you can add to your identity in a deck pass. By using Taunt, you should be able to cycle cards that aren't useful into the useful ones.
Ready for a Fight will allow you to take advantage of Magneto's AE recursion, Moira MacTaggert, Hidden Base, and a larger hand size.
Definitely get Magneto's Cape with Superpower Training. If you already have it, I'd probably recommend the Magneto's Helmet over Magneto's Armor, since it's more expensive and will improve your already great economy. I'd maybe even take Magnetic Bubble over the armor since it can likely block 2 attacks and/or remove toughs. Speaking of removing toughs, White Queen can remove a tough off of an enemy for you or a confuse/stun off of you.
There's definitely a case to be made to include Patriot as a combo with the 3 copies of "Come Get Me, Bub!". That said, it would turn off Utopia. So, if you want to include Patriot, I'd likely remove Utopia and likely restructure with different allies. However, I personally like the X-Men package and playing him this way.
Hope you give it a try and enjoy it.
